well like you know my car isn't running tractor stance :p
and i'm running 16's and sits really good IMO :D

been teasing mine a little today.. seems I may have to raise it slightly from the pics I put up the other day to make it practical for anything other than driving in myself as even when it was just me, it was scrubbing like a washer-woman on piece-rate.

im having problems with my rear springs, theres a variation of about 20-30mm ride height differnce everyday.

that sits perfect in my eyes chap. looks ace. ;)

Yep I agree, it does sit perfect. Looks really good. ;)

does sit really well mate! i like it, only if the wheels were 16's IMO, they just look a bit too big :D

really comfy ain't they? i did say that, i love mine too
my shocks were shot before i changed too, otherwise the springs were quite comfy too :)

Im another who thinks 16's are just right for the Ibiza. I also agree with how comfy the coilovers are. I use my car everyday and I can live with them no problems.

Heres a pic of how mine is sitting now.

And Im going to leave it like that, drives well and handles really good. Dont get any rubbing at the back either.

Try a Koni kit. Not mega lowering but retains decent comfort. Very old PPC article with Glyn Hopkins old car had a useful article.

Well, since Eleanor's being discussed... The Koni SSK's my brother fitted 120K ago have just given up at 148500! I'd say that's pretty good value!

While it was certainly a well handling kit with 16's, I'd dispute it was particularly comfy...

I bought this car from Glyn last year, and I'm currently doing about 1k a week.

This weekend I'm fitting a set of FK AK coilovers, hoping to retain most of the handling, with a bit less pothole crash... Considered the HT's being mentioned as it's turning out to be a bad month, but spent the extra as I absolutely need delivery Friday or I'll blow the saving on a hire car...

well for one FK AK's are crap tbh
if you want some good coilies go with weitecs
or really if you don't mind spending, then go for adjustable height and damping

but i wouldn't get FK AK's, your better off with HT's as they will be better (and the rears of FK AK's are fixed height, i cannot remember if they had adjustable platforms, but IMO i prefer adjustable all round if i am getting coilies) :)

Well, I guess I'm gonna find out real soon...

Checked with Edwin, and I don't have 4 working days for del, or else I'd have given them a try. With the death of the Koni's, the car's just munched a pair of rainsport2's in 6 weeks, and i've got a lot to pay out this month already, so 300 notes for a kit was budget. I thought about new ssk's at the front like for like, but that would have left me with sharp front and tired back for a month, which sounded silly.

If i decide they really blow, i'll rip em out and put ssk's back in after summer... They weren't a particularly sophisticated ride, but sharp as anything, and really can't complain after 120000 miles use! Car's only about 25mil down from standard cupra sport, but much more would make several car parks i know of impossible to get into!

To be totally honest, I could do with slowing down a bit for a while, I've been pushing my luck lately ^_^

oh ok mate, just a heads up, as they are notoriously crap, the higher spec FK's are decent, but for the money you would be silly not to get weitecs or similar :)

why could you not wait 4 days? would of got them half the price :p

slow down then, that's probably the reason for the tyre wear, suspension shouldn't make tyre wear worse? bad camber/tracking will, bad suspension will cause a crap ride (maybe if you are "ragging" it everywhere, then in corners it might damage, but not much)

:) I don't rag it particularly, never found a rev limiter, never race from lights, never wheelspin, but do drive fairly hard on a twisty route almost daily. Granted Glyn had the car a lot longer than me, but there's a 150000 mile old factory clutch in there.
There's a particular steep downhill s bend on my way home I find very hard to resist!

For sure, camber's slipped a bit. Old koni's look like battlefield relics. Basically, as everything's worn, geometry's gone steadily downhill. Agree my driving style won't have helped, though.

Wanted to get it all out of the way this sunday cos front left is pretty much dead, and through the week I don't get in til 7, and didn't really want to rip it apart after work. I've heard of ppl doing front and back plus basic spirit level alignment in under 2 hours, but even so. I'd rather give myself plenty of daylight just in case I find something that doesn't want to play.

Basically, with more attention and planning I could have saved a bunch of cash, I fully get that.

Anyway, all a bit OT... I didn't mean to hijack, I just noticed someone mentioning my car as a reference, and I thought they seemed to be suggesting the SSK kit on it was comfy as well as sharp. By the standards of 2001, it might have ridden quite well, but there's a lot more choice now. If I was spending 5-600 quid on a kit, that's what I'd be putting back on.

Caffienated are your springs still good? If so let me know......

^_^

Well, rears have covered about 120k, fronts about 85 (replaced when lorry did something silly at Dartford years ago).

Powder coating starting to peel, they're in one piece, just not pretty.

They're shorter than cupra sport standard (as are the struts). Kit gives about 20-25mil drop from cupra sport standard. I've got 195*45*16's on and i can't quite get first two fingers under the front arches at the top of the wheel.

I guess you're interested?

hey the body

mine sat that high before, went to my uncles garage he works at

got the gun out, undone the top mount (21mm IIRC) and then i think a 19mm (?) long socket, and tightened the bolt underneath, then it sat better mate

give it a wack (shouldn't cost more then a £5 IMO it took like 3mins, 1.5mins was finding the socket :p)
