Iv noticed the past few weeks that my cupra sometimes jerks slightly when pulling away from cold and seems to pulll away by itself with my foot slighty on the gas. But today i drove it for 2 minutes, stopped and when i pulled away i heard a pop come from the engine, was ok after then. Iv just checked for any split pipes and they are fine, so could this be a coil pack on its way?? They have never been changed either.

Also noticed a leak around one of them as well (i know my oil caps upside down) lol

I'm sure there was a recall on the 180 cupra's m8.... But not the LCR damm....

Is it worth going into SEAT and asking about the recall to see if they can do mine, as i have no record of em being changed. Problem might be something completely different but worth a try

A coilpack going is when the cars running very lumpy all the time and stinks of petrol. If its on its way out you'll only feel it when you drive the car on full boost.

Ok thanks for the info bud, the car feels perfect on boost, only off of boost something doesnt seem right sometimes.

Just call them m8 with your chassis number ask if its due or been done

Iv got to go there and order a splitter for the R anyway, so ill ask them the question, cheers matey :D

EML light came on tonight. Filled up with the usual v power, as soon a i pulled away and let off the throttle the exhaust was banging so loud, did it a few more times and then it calmed down. Few miles down the road and the light came on. Initial thought was overfueling, so need to plug it in and see what the faults are, bloody cars!!! [:@]

Not wishing to hijack your thread, but mine has started hesitating when warm and idling in traffic. It feels like its going to stall, and if I keep the revs up manually, if flutters a bit and then clears.
I'm getting no dash lights, and when reading it, shows no fault codes.
The car has long coughed and farted when first starting up from cold due to what I believed to be the SAI issues.
I'm a bit confused, as I thought coil packs normally through a dash light up?
Will look tomorrow for air leaks, loose connections etc..... (Maybe the fuel in Essex is shite!)

RDS check your fuel pump is ok and then your fuel pressure regulator. Thats my guess, might as well give that ago. If not then its out crap only way is Essex petrol lol.

Another thing iv noticed with me car is when the engine is hot, i turn it off and turn it back on its sounds like its just started up for the first time as the revs are about 1100 rpm, then goes back to normal. Did this a few times in a row and does the same thing. Any ideas people??

coil pack recall

my cupra 180 came from main dealer 4000 on clock in 2004

august this year got letter saying that seat now have my car on record system

and want to replace all 4 coil packs at no cost (now on 105000miles)

this car has always been serviced by them !!!:D

might be worth a try at the main dealer give em yer details

your car might have slipped through "system"

they where so insistent on replacing the coil packs they did this before fixing the clutch

which is what i originally took the car in for

Thanks Richy, I'll have look into checking them. (Ran like a dream today, boosting like a b@stard all the way into work and back out again, only to start dithering as I pulled onto the driveway. (The journey in took longer and the car got warmer due to traffic)).

It sounds like coil pack, but could be the sparks.

Coils (3-4 (I think) - Closest exhaust): For me it was misfiring in early revs, required quick change up, sounded terrible... Turbo firing wanting to go quick but fuel being dumped! EML light flashing at me, finally was on constant after trying to crawl to the shop!

Coils (1-2 (I think) - Furthest from exhaust): Misfiring at later revs, felt as though the turbo was firing tempremental.

Sparks: Ordered 2 coils thinking that was the problem (having previously had replaced 2 earlier in the year) but problem presisted. Tempremental loss of power, thought it was the turbo, as although it whistled it did f'all! Almost called the shop to book the car in... Then thought I'd try the plugs... Cheaper than the shop!

This is what I've found in the 5 coils I've replaced to date... only 3 having been faulty and now owning 2 spare... Man at the 'shop' said he anticipates a coil to fail every 6 months, though I've only changed 3 in the 5 years I've owned mine.

Same things happening to mine and yesterday for the first time, after parking up for an hour or less, the car refused to start up - Left it alone for a further 10 mins or so and it started up.

Any help with this would be of great help to me too!
