GoPro..

Can anyone with experience with GoPro HD cameras tell me which one's and prices I need to be aware of? I want one for next season. Got the track bug now and the car will be more than ready come the start of the warmer months next year.

Any links appreciated :)

Tom I got the HD Hero 2 motorsports edition from Amazon. Fantastic piece of kit. The LCD backpack is useful for getting the positioning and framing right too.

I've not really had a chance to properly test it out yet but have done a few test videos and they come out great. I did take it to Thorpe Park and hold it on all the coasters too lol, vids on my youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/cooperad?feature=mhee

Ive missed a fair bit it seems, track slag weekend car for the win!

A couple of my mates have the gopro2 and nothing but praise from them!

I wonder when the itch for an S3 will come back, you seem to have that needing a scratch.

Looks like a good day mate, but September is a busy month for me with a potential track day at Brands Hatch again, open pit lane this time. Also might be buying my new clutch, plus Players show is on too which I'm going to.

It's also quite a long way :( Next time mate.

Is there a thread up for players?

Very impressed!!!

Haha, she does me proud on track and weekend blasts over and over :D

Go Pro seem to be drawing awesome praise.. Good to hear!

Lol, the S3 idea is out of the window really, I'm thinking keep the LCR, buy a house and then in a few years buy a well looked after Audi RS3 or something extreme for track like a Caterham and have a 2nd boring car for the supermarket trips etc, lol..

The S3 wouldn't make sense at the moment tbh mate, but it's a lovely car!

I would be getting the 'track essentials' before a camera buddy.

I never said I was getting a camera before remaining mods mate ;)

What do you class as essentials? I have a few things in mind, but the fun I had with it in it's current guise makes me wonder how far to take it tbh. Spent enough now and just want to enjoy it. Few more big things to do and I won't do much more can guarantee that.

Is there a thread up for players?

No I don't think so. It's on facebook mate... You coming yeah? ;)

Well as you got the track bug now, you really need an oil cooler, polybushes and a baffled sump (aswell as the ever so worrying rods). You really dont want that oil sloshing around the normal sump, so its a good investment. Im thinking of getting the AKS Tuning one as ive seen it in the flesh and its great quality.

A diff will be great out on track but as its a very expensive mod it can wait. You mentioned you need a clutch and SMF, these will help greatly (as you know already).

Enjoy your car dude, but everything in the first paragraph will make your car a very capable machine (even though its a brilliant example currently).

The polybushes will bring all the modifications together. The car will feel supple, yet strong and firm. My handling is fantastic and ive never regretted getting them fitted. The car is so much more comfortable than i ever thought it would be.

Unfortunately it looks like another £1500 minimum to get the car track focused + the clutch cost. Bloody money pits these cars eh?

Gonzo, I know it's kinda needed for track work, but if you drive my car you would realise too that it's very neutral, so im in no great need to get one. I need to get 'engine protection' work and 'oil protrction' work done first dude :)

Oil cooler can wait defo, mine was fine for 20mins and I won't be doing anything more than that for quite some time anyway. Clutch is priority 1. I know all about baffled sumps and it's not a priority at all unless I make it a proper track car one day. I use good oil and do regular changes so it's fine for a 20min or less blast.

Bret, it's not just the track where a diff will help, fast road they bring the cars alive. I've been in my mates LCR stage 2 with a Wavetrac and it pulls out of the corners so well, he leaves me for dead. I've driven it around some roundabouts off the M25 and it staggers me just how much exit speed it can give where mine and your LCR would struggle for traction.

The bushes are definitely getting done, but 100% I am getting the clutch sorted next before it lets go on me. It's done well tbh considering the torque the car kicks out. Whenever I boot it, it still wants to pull my face off :D

As Gonzo said, you really need a rear ARB! I am shocked you haven't got one already. If you thought your cornering was very flat think again. The car won't be fully balanced if you have the front but not the back... The understeer/oversteer will be much more manageable with both fitted. Cornering on track was awesome at Brands and the front stayed in tight at the hairpins with the rear following through nicely. Get it done.

Money pits indeed, I'll be happy when it's had the clutch done for sure..

Buddy you really need to read up on this sort of stuff. If the oil gets over 110 degrees then it can be very dangerous as it runs very thin. An oil cooler is around £100.

The sump is a priority even for 20 minute runs. Any oil starvation even for a second will be terrible for the engine and rods.

Yep I know about diffs but they mainly come into their own on a track.

If you serious about tracking your car. Mods have to be considered. Mine and yours will never be track slags or all out track cars, but it's nice to know a road car can cope with the track. The oil is very very important. And so, it has to be protected. :)

Come on mate, I've had 2 LCR's now and know about the oil temps!! Really?

Firstly I think you need to get your LCR on track, see what it can do and come back and comment about track abuse dude. I've ragged mine hard for 20mins and it's come back in one piece with only tyre and brake pad wear the issues! Oil sat at 110 degrees for quite a few laps but I still pushed it to see where it's limitations are.. It'll be fine for what I do in the short term. Oil cooler's are great, but not essential for me right now.. The car kept performing lap after lap thanks to a great fmic also.

I disagree on the baffled sump being mandatory, sure they are great for track use over and over but the odd short blast it will be fine as proven by many on here. Did you ever follow DannyC's thread? I doubt mine will ever go to the Ring' and their cars coped fine. I know a good mate who is on here, barely comments, the one with the Wavetrac who I regard as one of the most knowledgeable people on LCR's. He has never done rods, never done baffled sumps or oil coolers, yet has tracked his car many times. If you want to thrash it all day long most of the summer weekends on track then fine do those mods, if your a casual 'take your road car on track' person like me I don't see the need as he has proven now for 7 or 8 years. Depends how far you want to go really.

I am not throwing thousands at this car now, it NEEDS a clutch soon and bushes will help, but for me it doesn't need much more and I have experience of how things work out track blast... ;)

If the clutch is being done it makes sense to have the diff fittede while the box is out.
Baffled sumps arent essential but nice if its seeing more track action

If I can do both at the same time I will do :) Big save on labour costs indeed.

Ronin are you still on the standard sump?

Oil cooler for £100? Wow I got conned then...............more like £160-£200.

Baffled sumps are no doubt a great addition for track but not what I'd call essential. Same with a diff, highly desirable but not essential.

Tom for your car it's as you say. Clutch, bushes (seen as your front ones are starting to show signs of wear) and your usual maintenance of the car. Oil cooler I would highly recommend as you know but don't be rushing to get it all done at once as it can be done in stages. Realistically when is your next track event? For road use your car is solid, much better shape than most shitters out there these days.

Oh and on the subject of rods, you know I have been testing my rods lately. Full power runs is the best way to check them :p

Exactly El, desirable but not essential. I would love a diff though :p

Too many shitters out there mate, running poor maps and all blowing rods, lol :D

I know how hard me you and DK have driven our cars on trips out before, testament to the maintenance how well they carry on running and the parts installed..

Perhaps Dolby was talking James L LCR track essentials as then the diff, sump, bushes, clutch and a whole load of other stuff is high on the priority list ;)

I'm still on standard sump, i just slightly over fill oil to prevent dry moments from excessive sloshing in the sump.
I will go baffled sump but probably install this when the engine is rebuilt
