Will it go faster when it's painted black?! Personally I would leave it standard so if there are any issues, oil is a lot easier to spot.

Nice mate, sooo want an LSD. D.K's made a fair point there, I'd definately get it painted.

Get one mate :D

He has indeed..

Hmm, maybe!? lol.

That is also a very good point. I'm not even aware of the costs involved to get it prepped/painted so that's something I'll have to ask tomorrow to my mate. The oil sure would be easier to spot than if it went to black. Hmm..

They are only worth the money if you plan on getting benefit from it. I don't think an LSD is worth it for a road car because you would be breaking all kinds of road laws to see the big advantages.

Yeah I wouldn't have bothered if I wasn't planning on getting her on track a bit next year :)

Going on Brands' earlier this year has given me a taste and now I want more time around the circuits!

I think there a worth while mod on any performance FWD car if you tracking them or not. You don't have to be going at light speed to feel the benefit. It's made a huge difference to my car so you stage 2 boys certainly will fell the benefit.

Nice to hear someone say it. There are so many posts urging people to buy an LSD, "just because". It's almost become a scene item in places and people forget that it's actually a functional part that aids the car primarily when pushing hard i.e. track.

Tom is serious about using his car to its potential and utilising his mods and good on him, it's nice to see that type of dedication and love for a car and a person getting enjoyment out of their hobby. I was like Tom, loved my car and ony the best would be had for it, I inevitably got to Stage 2 and then had the common "worth going on or selling" thoughts but for me it wasn't worth putting in the extra money in as I'd not enjoy the further potential. In a sense, making a Stage 2 LCR to use only on the street is only fun because it's fast and you can smoke people in a straight line but in the end I didn't even do that and garaged the thing too much.

Tom, I need a spin in your car once it's all done. Seeing mine pop back up has brought back fond memories and I need some LCR love :D

I am interested to know the benefits you have found. Care to share?

If you look back through this thread you'll see I've shearded plenty. How can having more grip in a FWD car not be of benefit??? Why do you only need a diff on track? To me it doesn't make sense? Why do Ford, VW, Renault all use LSDs on there road cars if there is no advantage? What's the point in having X amount of torque and power if you can't use it?
As far as you'll be braking the law on the public roads if you use it to it's potential. We'd all be braking the law to use any of our cars to there potential.
Do you honestly feel that you don't use you diff on the road!?!?

Maybe if you'd of fitted a diff it'd been more than just in a straight line lol? What is this scene you talk of?

Al that's not meant to be in an argumentative tone. I'm just a little surprised at you point of view.

I think what Jay means is that some people buy diff's purely on what they've heard off others and to 'fit in' sometimes, lol. Might sound silly but there will be people out there who buy them and don't fully use them..

Mine will be getting used that's for sure. Track attack comparison with Brands Hatch as soon as it's possible to go back out again.

Interesting debate re the low down grip. I won't comment more on it as I've not got the miles with a diff under my belt yet.

And Jay, yes mate no worries, next rr day or something we'll go for a blast up the road ;)

Put it this way. My car with only;

Milltek
Revo S2+
S3 Cooler
Evoms Intake
KW V3 Coils
APR Pump
Team Dynamic Wheels and 888's

Did 13.000 on the 1/4 mile

Now assuming you remove the air con core and pump, add lighter battery, lighter brakes with lighter discs, add a bigger intercooler, uprated engine mounts, an uprated clutch, lightened flywheel, wavetrac LSD and loads of other wee mods i dont recall as well as run a smidge more boost, what advantage is there likely to be in a straight line time wise with the "extra grip" you mention?

The thing with an LSD is that its not going to be noticeable until it needs to be active - ie when the car is pushed - and mostly in when the road isn't straight.

Renault and Ford include a diff as they know their customers probably will track the cars. Plus it gives their customers something to discuss in a pub even though they might not have a clue about what it is or what it does.

I won't say I don't notice it on the road but then I probably spend less time on bends than most (think about that ;)). Driving to work/shops or trying to get an amazing straight line launch on a dry day - you won't see a difference.

PS - the car is a ball hair slower with all that **** added/removed although to be fair, I blame te single mass flywheel for that as 2nd gear is slower to come by with it vs the standard dual
Mass flywheel ;)

Old car with the same wavetrac and standard dual mass flywheel (and less mods) did 12.9 on te 1/4 mile.
