hi all, im after some advice and info from people who have taken an abf engine out. can the car be moved off the rampss when the engine is romoved all will there be anything prevent it? ie driveshafts?
It can be moved easy enough, much easier to push with no engine in
Could be worth either tying the driveshafts up to the subframe or removing them completely, also worth watching exhaust and pas pipework doesn't get tangled up in anything if you are moving it about
ok mate, thanks for the quick response, we have aqquired a set of 2 posts that we can use in the evening but once the engine is out we were hoping to move the car of the posts so its not tying up there workshop.
easiest thing to do, if you cant get it on the ramps etc, is to take all the ancillaries off it first (starter, power steering pump, air con pump, alternator etc) as i presume these are going on the new motor, then drain all the fluids and disconnect all the hoses.
basically get as far as you can without having to take the engine out, then when you get the space and time, take off the bumper, crash bar and radiator, undo the 3 mounts and roll it out!
cheers mate, we were on those sort of lines but the car cant be kept on the ramp for to long as it gets used on a daily basis. so need to do as much as we can then move off the ramps and back on to do more and so on.
