tapping noise

hi, i have a tapping noise coming from under the bonnet. Its located on the left hand side directly behind the windscreen wash tank. in a block box typr thing with two pipes coming off it. Notsure what it is, but it sounds quite bad. does this when car is cold or warm. anyone help me pls.

That's the carbon filter. It always 'ticks' whilst it's purging. On my LCR this only obvious at idle and goes away when on the move. This is perfectly normal. Doing a search should put your mind at rest.

I heard the same the other day. I have never noticed it before, but then again i usually switch off the engine before getting out. On this occasion i was picking someone up and left it running. It was after i had been driving it hard (1st time really since getting it).

I was a little worried until this post. Thanks guys.

I never noticed in on my LC but heard it straight away on my LCR.
