Dont think that turbo is normaly used on vag cars mate (well I aint heard of anyone using a subaru turbo on a vag motor). You do see loads of them on toyota's though, especialy the little starlets.

jabba use ihi's mate which are off subarus also i've got a td05/20g on my TT and Wilkos got a td05/18g on his mk4 golf.

Hi Az - let us know how you get on with this once it's mapped and what power you achieve. I may consider a 16G myself if it turns out my IHI is fecked.
On a scooby its supposed to spool faster than a VF34 but also another 20 or so brake at the top end.

a td05/16g will do 340bhp
a td05/18g will do 360bhp(wilkos)
a td05/20g will do 375bhp(mine)
difference being they are stronger turbos and parts are replaceable,i've only gained about 30bhp over my old ihi vf34/20g but my trap times have gone from 109mph to 116mph:)

small 16g is equal to a vf34
large 16g ~20hp more than vf34
larger 18g ~30hp " "
20g in td05 ~40hp " "

It was the "large" 16G that I had my eye on, see here:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....m=220202082709&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=012

If the table is to be believed then on a scooby spools 600rpm sooner and extra 20-30 top end.

As wilko has an 18G on his JS manifold then I assumed this would fit?

I don't want to write the obituary yet on my IHI but thought I'd look at possible options. I still have standard internals and can't afford to uprate these yet, was just thinking about making the upper end of the VF34 power more reliably and if it could spool quicker then that would be a bonus ;)

Jabba mani fitment and space might limit you but as you have a lcr I expect space is not so much of a problem. Dont think it would be advisable to run any of those without your rods being changed really.

I would imagine it would fit,i know jabba have fitted one as have others just be careful to avoid cheap copies.Ideally you want a pukka evo 3 one with the 16g6 compressor wheel.

I like the vf34 power rating 290-320,spot on.

Yeah I think you're right, after doing some searching the Evo III looks like the best option, thanks for the pointer. Also came across some bad info about JAW and copy turbos so would definitely make sure of getting a pukka one if I go down that route, they can be got for around £500 anyway.

Came across this interesting thread:
http://www.vagcars.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=196

So looks like Jabba have already looked at all TD05 variants. BHP figures sound optimistic as always  but they reckon 16G is OK on standard internals.

I would not be happy running that 16G on my car without the rods being done especially with jabba type boost levels. Pretty likely to do a rod I would imagine then bye bye engine. Figures quoted for the vf34 are what most see as reliable with boost/heat etc so would expect more than quoted from the 16G with a jabba map.
