TDi Service intervals

Hello.
I recently imported a Leon TDi SE
The only problem I have is the info on service intervals is a bit lacking. I tried a snail mail to the local dealer but have had no reply so far. I don't want to miss the first service so can anyone here tell me when the first service will be due?

Is it possible to set the car up for a long service interval by using synthetic oil, etc

I have a Leon 1.9 SE TDi . Don't worry about service intervals. The car has a display that tells you it needs a service in x thousand miles. It's shown when you start up and your approaching the time. it gives you about a 100 miles warning from memory. When you spot it just book it it. Simple!

The reason I ask about the long service interval is that I read something about Audi's having a sensor that determined when the car needed serviced, based on how many miles, how the car has been driven, etc

Just wonder if Seat had something similar ?

Mine decided it needed servicing ten months from new when it had just done a little over 5K. Well it's our second car.....
I recall it said it needed servicing in the next 1000 miles. Or about 4 months given our usage

Mine pops up about 9000miles from last service saying 1000miles to go till next service (It's now done 36K). As for sythetic oil, what you should really be saying is:

By using Synthetic oil, can I safely retain the 10K intervals rather than getting it done every 5K on mineral or semi-synthetic oil.......??

Seriously, too many problems are cropping up with Diesels now-a-days where manufactures have extended intervals from 5-6k to 10-12K. I supply Mobile 1 Turbo Diesel to my dealer, and try and do a 5K intermediate service using a SEAT oil filter as I don't really want a bill for a new turbo while I own the car, and the best way to safe guard a turbo for 150,000+ miles is using full synthetic.

TDI 110 did you get your 150,000 miles plus ??? I use the same oil as you mainly as you say to protect the old Turbo bearings.

The tdi engine if serviced regular will easy last 150000 miles easley these engines are good just need keeping looked after there are people on this site with highly tuned tdi engines with mileage above 150000 so look after the engine and it will look after you

Thanks thats what I hoped to do my pre-PD has done 116000 the only thing that worrys me is as I say the turbo suddenly giving up. I am considering changing to another TDI but I then hear about oil pump failure issues with 16V PD & CRs

I would not worry about your turbo I it goes it goes I u worry then u end up unlike ing a car when u have no reason too.

thanks I suppose 'worry' was the wrong word maybe I should of said concentrate on. I mean just want to make it last as long as poss as I see it as the weak spot. As you say 'if it goes it goes' but it could take the engine with it.

Yes It could possible cause a lot of damage but so could a lot of things just keep it well serviced and it should be ok but the same as anything somethings last longer than others

what problems and what did you need to replace to get it that far ?

I had a aircon compressor go under warranty - but that was a long time ago as I bought this new in 2002

oil has been mainly mobil 1 or synta gold

she'd chipped, lowered and the ds2500's have outlasted the brembo max disks

biggest pain has been leaky door seals and the boot spolier causing a leak into the book

being lowered the lower engine cover has taken a bit of a battering so its gone at the next service - open to suggestions for a replacement for the cover

clutch and flywheel are hanging on well

yet another timing belt due and as its seems to lose some water from somewhere I think a new water pump might be in order - it did rub a hole through a water hose about 2 years ago but got it before any major disasters

To chrisswatts. You never stated engine code. The interval for my asv and ahu engine code tdi is 10000 miles. Mine was tuned up a bit so I used good oil with the recommended standard and change it every 5000 miles in stead of 10000 miles. Always do the filter at the same time.
