Brothers just confirmed that one of my HID units has had it. So do I get another set of HID lights or just go for some bright bulbs. Any recommendations?

Gone a bit bulb crazy lately. Decided in the end to steer away from HID lights and opt for some fancy bulbs instead.
Wanted to go for a more white look as I had 8000k HID's last time round.
Up front I purchased a set of LED side lights from Ultraleds.co.uk >> The Ultimate II 501/T10/194 1 x 1.5 Watt Ultra Xenon White
And a set of Philips X-treme Vision on ebay from Upgradebulbs
Instantly loved the LED side lights but the Phillips bulbs were a massive let down. They are meant to be whiter than OEM but not white enough for my liking. Below is a pic of them Vs the OEM bulbs (on the right).
Sent the bulbs back and received a refund. So I then purchased a set of the Phillips Diamon Vision on ebay from JJC Direct UK
These have turned out to be spot on for my liking:

They are slightly different colour to the side lights but close enough. When I switch them on at night time you can't see the difference
How does the brightness at night compare to HID's as I see the diamond vision are classed as a bulb for styling due to them not being road legal?
I think my HID lights projected a bit further but these still provide plenty of lighting. More than OEM bulbs I would say
Are they a higher wattage than the OEM ones? Only reason i ask is a mate of mine fitted some super bright bulbs in his car (corsa) and they got really hot, to the point of steam coming off the lens when it rained, lol.
Blimey that's not great. To be honest I haven't checked whether the watt is the same as the OEM ones. Will have a look but should be ok. Phillips tend to make quality products and when I looked for reviews there are several VAG cars running them and haven't reported any issues. Thanks for the heads up though
