Hey guys finally decided to bite the bullet and got myself an LCR! It had to happen sooner or later. Will be putting pics up soon!
I've got a problem with the coolant temp gauge, it doesn't move at all from 60 but the heaters work fine and coolant level is all ok? Any ideas guys?
And just to add it already has the green cts fitted by previous owner

Your telling me lol absolutely love it! Am I right in thinking that if the thermostat was faulty the temp gauge would fluctuate or can this cause it to stay at 60?

Constantly at 60 even when cold or it doesn't go above 60?

If it doesn't go above 60 I'd say thermostat or CTS, wouldn't pay any attention to the fact its already been changed there always failing.

it is possible its the thermostat as if its stuck in the open position then its being cooled too much.
However if you do any long runs or leave it running parked up thenthe temp should rise.
If the temp doesnt rise when parked up and left on tickover then its not the thermostat, more likely the wrong temp being fed to the dash.
If the radiator fans come on at all then the coolant is up to temp!

then imo it might not be the thermostat.

Im not sure, i think the temp sensor (the green one fitted) is the common fail, but im sure ive read somewhere there is somehting at the other end. (ie the dash end that can fail if rarely).

Also do a read up on climate control secret or how to display the coolant temperature on the climate control screen. This may well be different from the dash and can help work out where the fault is, or at least whats not failed.

Iv had this exact prob and it was coolant temp sensor and mine already had a green one fitted, swapped it then went for a drive and started working again and been fine ever since

Nimzy, Santa Pod meet next Sunday....a few of us are going from here and I'm trying to get a few others ready. You can get Bill ready.
