hi i have a little problem with my LCR the temp gauge seems to be playing up after a few mins of driving the gauge goes over the 90 mark n will even go all the way to 120. it dosnt seems like my engine is over heating as u can still touch it and it drives like normal, although the fans do seem to kick in. but if a leave to to idle for a minute or so it returns to 90

anyone know what it could be

Could this be the plagued temp sender unit in the top of the compression bottle?

Have read about other issues with temp guage that were fixed by cleaning up the contacts in the sender.

Have a searchy around I'm sure there's a thread with pic's!

well i thought if it was the water pump i would be loosing coolant, and that my engine would actually be over heating rather than jus the gauge, i may be wrong tho

the coolant volume stays the same... the pumps fins are breaking so its fine until pushed then it cant move the coolant fast/effectively enough. slow down and it copes.

Just don't forget to make sure the garage use the upgraded water pump with metal impaler! Not a huge amount more, think I had my cam belt & water pump down for about £270 inc labour...
