hi all,

the cabin temperature control does not always work - e.g. set it all the way to cold and it still blows hot.

there's talk of the temp control flap motor possibly being the culprit here.
does anyone know where this component sits, so i can remove/replace it?
(pictures would be good!)

also, the recirculation button only stays on for a couple of mins and then switches itself off.
is there another motor controlling this? any ideas?

btw - i have a 2003 ibiza Tdi (100bhp) - it still puts a smile on my face; my last car was a rover diesel !!!

cheers for any help people.

bal.

the control flap is kind of behind the centre console. Pretty much behind heat controls if i remember correctly
I cant remember for sure but think i had to rip the glove box out to get to it. I thought it was possible to remove it but it seemed to be glued in.
ohwell, was easier than removing the whole dash. i still need to glue it back in place but the small gap between dash and glovebox aint to bad

With the glove box out the other motor is easier to get to also. this ones behind the glove box area.

When i say glove box out it was more like turned/twisted 90degress to where it should have been still connected to the center console.

Was a pig of a job but needed to be done.

It also helps if you got vag com to diagnose faults and also fit the motors correctly.

Also if you search the net ttheres some info on a polo site i believe. Not much but all the more info the better hey

most likely but the light is connected to the recirc flap. mine would never come on but when i reset the fault codes it would apparantly work for a short while.

By doing a basic setting command in vag com a few times it may unstick the motors but on the other hand it may make it worse. worth the gamble if your gonna get it sorted anyhow.

By the way is it manual aircon you have or climatic??

it's the manual aircon system and i haven't got vagcom.
anyone in/near birmingham who can help me out?

i did take the heater controls out a while back but i did not remove the whole dash.
i didn't see any motors behind the heater controls.
have i missed something there?

so, are you saying that the recirc motor is roughly behind the glove box?
and is the temp flap motor behind the centre console?

also, are you saying that both motors are accessible by just removing the glove box?

when i say glove box. not just the innner part but the lower passenger side dash. like i said i had to rip mine out and left it connected to the center console. You might be lucky and it might not be glued in. ive only done mine so cant say about any others. Otherwise its the whole dash out.
Also i found space is real tight the way i done it. hard to see what you doing properly

Best to try the basic setting in vag com first. also id not like to fit new motors without vag com as it took me a few times to get the motors aligned properly and vag com shows fault codes untill you get this right
