So I have a 2013 (63 plate) Ibiza Cupra facelift in emocion red, just over 16.7k on the clock, FSH, very good condition all round that I've owned since new and in getting some recent figures re: selling, I've struggled to get a value above £9.5k (this is a rough average based on the likes of webuyanycar & a few others...)?!

I really don't understand why as I've had a browse on the likes of Auto Trader and found ones a similar age and mileage be sold for nearly £13k still, I was thinking mine would be worth more in the region of about £11k as my dad managed to sell his boc a few years ago with only 12k on the clock and at 2 and a half years old for £11.5k?!

The most worrying thing about it is that if I took the offered £9.5k for it I would barely cover the outstanding payments on the finance leaving me with very little/no equity left on the thing... Really quite disappointing...

Any other options? I've tried phoning a couple of local SEAT dealers to see what they would offer me cash sale and awaiting callbacks from them but I don't think I have much hope for them either...

You won't get a decent value for it going to places like We Buy Any Car, or offering it to a dealer.
These people buy cars to turn a profit, so they'll want yours cheap so they can sell it on for a few grand more.

You'll get much better prices selling privately.

I think all the problems people associate with these engines hasn't helped resale values. Plus now the new polo gti 1.8 tsi is available it may push down resale values more. My cupras a 63 plate too...thinking of keeping it years just to get my money's worth (as long as nothing goes wrong!)

If you don't want to sell it privately then part ex it at a Seat dealership. Then tend to offer the best price simply because they get a sale out of it.

No i've discovered the hard way that webuyanycar and "sell your car scotland" are a total rip off...!

Best offer I've had so far is from my local SEAT dealer who've offered me £10k for it. The thing is, I'm actually looking for a new Leon Cupra 280 so I'm considering going up at the weekend to see if a p/x figure on one of them is any better. They look like they're doing some fairly decent PCH deals on them too...

Unfortunately thats the price we have to pay for running around in new cars, TBH before I read your value in my head i thought you would be offered 9k.

You will if you have the time and can be bothered with all the time wasters..

i dont think its a seat or even ibiza specific thing

Generally speaking a new car is worth 45% of the new price after 3 years. Thats what a dealer will offer you trade in.

So a 20 grand car loses 11K in 3 years. Folk bang on about 30 quid a year road tax and i'm getting 60mpg compared to your 50mpg, etc, etc. The car is losing something like 70 quid a week just sitting on their drive.

Thats how the dealers pay for their shiney showrooms and the free coffee. Rock bottom trade in for yours but top dollar for the car they are selling.

You could get a better deal p/x, I have been offered £6k for my 08 Leon (it is immaculate) only owner me, against a new Leon which I thought wasn't too bad.

If you buy a brand new leon cupra 280 you will be lucky to get 18k after 1 year thats what I have been offered P/X for mine 1900 miles only. Think very hard if you thinking of buying a 280.
