Well the larger sister SUV to the Ateca has been dropped from the range. Skoda keeps its Kodiak. VW gets the Tayron.

2026 Volkswagen Tiguan and Tayron upgraded already | CarExpert https://share.google/Z1v3C8JDyTh8RhNOa

The 3 row seater:

Get your legs out in that. Least in the Kodiak. Push the rear seat back and stretch out as a passenger. My original complaint about the Ateca coming from an Altea. Cabin design doesnt allow you to stretch your legs out as a passenger. To achieve that probably with modern day safety you need a longer car.

The Tayron has been out since the end of last year? It's literally just a LWB version of the Tiguan and shares every part of technology used in it, it's a name change gimmick.

If it's there to fill the gap for anything, then it's the Touareg.

Suppose to be on the MQB Evo platform that the Allspace and Tiguan arent on. Touareg is suppose to be biting the dust. Second generation is the important thing I reckon.

The new Tiguan and Tayron are identical underneath apart from the wheelbase increase on the Tayron.

The Touareg has been discontinued hence my comment about the Tayron filling the gap that it will leave.

Yes the trusty mqb wiki

Ateca stranded outside with the Terramar in the MQB Evo fold. The Kodiaq made it as Mk2. Allspace and Tarraco didn't. Tayron taking over from the Allspace. Seat / Cupra having no third row seating model in SUV form which was the dealer volunteered the moan when I called into one last week. Terramar takes over from the Ateca "quite soon" were his words. Guess its when Skoda decides to end the Karoq although is there some Skoda MQB Evo model of that coming along ?. Would Seat go for that or just abandon mid size ICE / Hybrid SUV ?. That seems to be the intention. Cupra Terramar if you want that.

I'm not sure what the future holds for the likes of the Ateca or Karoq. VWG are face-lifting and continuing the T-Roc, so there could be some hope for a mid-sized Seat and Skoda SUV?
