The door CREEPS!

Hi team,

Just a quicky, does anyones arosa door(s) creep, clic or in general just make a noise upon setting off?

I know its getting old now the car but i cant find out why its dooing it.

Its the drivers door and upon moving off it does this creeking noise?

I hope its mechanical and not exocist related.

Daughters Arosa does as well, not surprised as the car is 10yrs. old, and when going round corners and bumps. I assume the door is moving around slightly in the door aperture, new door rubbers may cure the problem. The door levers and operating cables rattle a bit as well. The door checkstrap is creamcrackered as well. It's all door problems but at least the little car always starts, drives ok.

Yeah mine is gonna be 9 years old this year. Must have been one of the first sports off the line.

Its really wierd the door thing but im glad its not just mine.

As for the car it always starts so thats why i kept it lol

I'm not sure I can explain it the best...


I had similar problems with right passenger door, back door (trunk) and with the instrument panel (with this one it was yesterday).

This is how I've fixed them:
- passenger door: I have readjusted the door lock striker plate (the part that is on the body, not in the door). I moved it a little bit inside -> door closes as usual & no more annoying noise.

- back door (trunk): here it is necessary to find the right position for closure plate. If it is too inside, the door will have this creeking noise. If it is too outside it will bump. I had to adjust it 5 times until I get the right position. Also you need to fix it very hard in order to stay still (especially when you close the door it will move it inside).

- two weeks ago I've noticed this sound coming from instrument panel. When I hold the glass by hand it stops... thinking a little I have raised the steering wheel upper most; no more noises.

Although there is one universal cure for all: turn on the radio and make it louder just kidding

You'll have to take the door cards off to fix, chances are the card has become detached from the metal substrate which is where the door card meets the window, they are only glued together.

Oh, i know what the problem is - I just haven't got round to fixing it yet while elbowing it still works

My mums Arosa drivers door sounds very creaky when its opened and closed, not too sure if this is the same as the problem your having. The solution that was mentioned by a VAG mechanic at the cars last service was a new hinge .. fitted for around £25 i think she said the quote was.

Best of luck, hope u get your problem sorted, its a great wee car and ya dont see too many of them about ... a future classic i reckon.

I forgot about this problem I had... I used greasing on door's check strap and problem was solved. On entire it's length as much as I could reach (it goes inside the door) without disassembling it.

i have this problem in my lcr its onyl a few year old. if i hit a bump it creeks/clicks, so annoying. i tried greesing the hindges and its not worked. so i assumed its coming from the door look end.

ive still not managed to fix it.

both doors on my 52 arosa made horrific noises when opening, think both checkstraps are completely knackered, i think that the straps are also stopping me winding my window up because i can wind it up and down with down totally open but not when its shut
