No.. really think everyone was implying how STUPID it is to be doing 140 on a PUBLIC HIGHWAY..
:)

Heh, thats what I said :D I didn't just mean the bit about being able to say your car has a max speed of 140.

It's like when drink drivers say "I'm only putting myself at risk! It's fine!" No it isn't. They're putting everyone near the car in danger!

And Ive that bigger wing too!

doubt id get past a ton with the squirrel tail :)

you could tune it to 300+ bhp but with std gearing it wont max speed out any more than a standard car just be able to get there easier

fit a tdi gearbox out of a mk3 golf and if you could still rev it out in top you'll hit 200mph

 Some of the 8v's are bloody fast

Your right, here is Jenk's earlier attempt at hitting 130mph on a private road in the 8v  :

Now only hitting 127

the comment was written in regards to how the car was before i got the engine rebuilt. A few days ago, I tried to max out again and this time Ive only hit 127 even though down hill it has reached 136, after leveling out, the speed decreases back down to 127. They said they changed the crank and oil pump ask they were nackered so why the loss of even more speed? Little annoyed now.

Aso the engine oil preassure light flashes when i go around a bend after the engine is hot or when i break sharply, so i got it checked out and they said that it was just a sensor. So either theres a small oil preassure problem that they can be arsed to deal with or it really is a dodgy sensor, but how then would that explain a 10mph decrease in speed after a bottom end engine rebuild.

ps. in regards to the danger of going that speed on a public highway, I did make sure there was no cars on the road which was around 3am in the morning and you can see the end of the straight after you turn the bend so the only real danger was to myself, not that theres anything difficult or risky keeping a car in a straight line for a mile

how much that cost ya ?

whats it revving too ?

scrap that answer - is it still running ?

thrashing about when you have possible oil supply problems like that most likely end up blowing the bores or bottom end and can say from experience thrashed 16v rebuilds are most fullfilling

dont forget even at normal speeds just a crosswind can take 5/10 mph off a car

umm, £1200 but i still got 10 out of the 12 months warrenty left so i dont care about thrashing it around, if i didnt i'd never know theres a problem.
And the mechanic sais its fine.

it revs until the limit in all gears exept 5. Can reach 122 in 4th which is normal but after changing into 5th it only goes up to 127 with the rev counter around 5000 maybe 5500 at most and it wont budge from there. With the sports cams, its had the effect that the most noticable power increase is between 5-700 where the limit is.

I mean I was dissapointed after it reached 137 with the mods but now its 10mph less. And why would the oil light only sound when going around bends or slowing down sharply?
Does anyone have ANY idea whats wrong. I dont particualy want to go back to the garage and say "Well it dosent do 137 now it only does 127"

oil level is fine. Should say tho the whole reason the engine got rebuilt to start with was because a massive oil leak which caused it bang, which was caused by a retarded seat dealer that did not tighten the oil filter propley. And even when this problem happened, the dipstick said the oil was fine bc it wasnt actually leaving the car, it just collected at the bottom or summin.

The only thing i can think of is bc of the banging the block may have been cracked, is that a possibility because they salvaged the existing block.
