After years of telling everyone who will listen that I'm buying a Seat Leon and not making it happen, it soon got to the point where i was getting on everyone's nerves and even my own! But no more! On Monday 2nd July i finally went balls deep and bought one!
The search has been for lack of a better phrase "a pain in the arse" and i think Ive looked at nearly every single Leon that's come up for sale in the last few years. I knew exactly what i wanted and it was important that the Leon checked most of the boxes before id even consider going to have a look at it.
My specifications where:
* It needed to have as low mileage as possible as hoping to do a bit of travelling
* diesel pd150 as i cover alot of miles and petrol and insurance prices would destroy me
* preferably black (red was a massive no due to alot of bad luck with red cars)
* 2005 Reg
* full service history with cam belt and water pump changed plus regular oil changes
* cupra r front bumper
* cupra r wheels
* cruise control
* folding mirrors
* arm rest
* leather seats
* Budget of £5000
Alot of the pd150's i looked at were of the 80k + mark, and although i knew that to these engines that's nothing i still found it difficult to part with my cash. Finally i came across a silver fr 150 with 55K miles on the clock for £5700 and a fully stamped service book! Only problems i had was that the garage didn't know if it had the cam belt and pump done but told me that he would do it all for £100! also it was way out of my budget but was well worth it. I went home and racked my brain working out how i could afford it and finally came to a solution, but when i phoned the next day it was sold =(
Couple of weeks past and i was getting pretty depressed as i now i had a taste for such low mileage it made looking at anything with more deeply unattractive, as stupid as it sounds. Just when i had had enough i decided to expand my search from 60 miles to 200 miles! To my surprise 2 beauties popped up! Both were a 100 miles away, one silver cupra 2004 with leather seats, cruise control, arm rest the lot! for £5000 from a private seller and the other was a black fr from a garage without the leather seats and arm rest for £5475 but was black and 2005! both were at 52k miles only! I couldn't believe it and i simply didn't know which one to choose! It was late at night so had to wait until the next day until i could contact anyone but i was very excited.
The next day on my break at work i got my phone out and searched for the silver one but found it had been sold! I couldn't believe it had happened to me again! so i phoned the black one up straight away and with my fingers crossed i asked if it was still for sale. To my surprise it was! After a series of emails and sending me scans of the service book (full service history with services every 10000 miles or less! and cam belt changed 3000 miles ago) i knew i had to have it! Yet again i encountered another problem though which was i was working nights and had an operation in 2 days time which meant the earliest i could see it was in 5 days time at the earliest! After the luck id been having i knew that i had to do something to secure it at least until i could look at it, so i emailed him asking him if he could hold it for me. I knew i was asking alot from him so wasn't surprised when he said he would only hold it if i put a £250 deposit down on it. This wasn't ideal as meant i was basically saying i was going to buy a car that i hadn't even looked at! To cut a long story short i paid the £250 anyway but stated that if the car wasn't as clean as he described that id want my deposit back.
I had my operation and a few days later it was finally time to go and see it, all the way in Leeds! (i live near brum) My Dad drove and it was the most painful 2hrs 30 mins of my life as the operation i had was on the base of my back, but we finally got there with the aid of some strong pain killers. The dealer didn't let me down and the Leon was even better than id hoped! I was taken on a test drive with the dealers son and he opened it up and i was blown away! Was funny though because at this point we heard a siren from behind us and he **** himself!! lmao luckily it was an ambulance.
The papers were signed and the money was exchanged and now i am the owner of a shiny black Leon FR 55 reg with 52k miles on the clock =D
My Dad again drove it back as i still couldn't drive =( and it made him smile all the way home lol He was like a kid and was blown away by the sheer power of it. My Mom also had ago later on that night and she also turned into a kid so i think Ive discovered the fountain of youth in car form! who'd of knew?
Ive only had a lil blast in it (albeit a painful one) and cant wait until Im all healed up and able to see what she can do =D
Got plenty of plans and look forward to keeping you guys updated.
Thanks for reading the essay and here she is =D
