The TT Brake Upgrade

Sorry for the slow responce, but i wanted to wait for some progress.

I am seriously angered by Royal Mail and how slow they have been. Its been 6 days (5 working days including arrival) to recieve something that was sent first class!!

So my Braided lines came! As was expected they were just aslong as the standard TT lines (about 4 inches too big)

We took off one old line. Now i inspected the so called damage...

There is NO way it was leaking the fluid from here... But it was damage all the same, and im glad we found it and have sorted it out. I wonder where the leak was.... Oh and there was no damage to the other line.

We fitted the new lines with bracket to keep them out of the way of the wheel.

Nice!

So, we found the leak too. The bottle that holds the brake fluid is leaking out at the bottom!! One of the clips has broken so the seal isnt perfect. So no wonder it felt fine breaking even when it was leaking... So i think i need a new bottle...

Im going to see if it has emptied tomorow.

I will keep you posted

Jamin

EDIT: added images and here is a camparison of the braided vs normal lines:

Something that disgusted me was that they didnt include the bolt for the end of the brake line with the braided ones! It was really hard to get it off the standard ones witht he copper washer still intact. What if i hadnt got the standard lines in the first place and just bought the braided ones?!?

Right i was board. I had just been killed early on a zombie server on CSS and really couldnt be assed waiting 5 mins for the game to finish. So i went outside and ripper off the brake fluid resevour bottle! even in the dark it was easy to do, im going to fit my new one all by myself.

Atleast its all going in the right direction now mate.

We all love when things go wrong so we can get our hands dirty anyway lol

lmao thats so true, my thrust bearing have gone after I had the g'box off to do my final drive...... so it was off again last night to change the clutch [:@]

Oh I better finish that off now to.

Working on your car brings you closer to it....

So i rang the local VW garage. These bottles are on back order!!! 7-10 days... Oh my... So ive filled out lots of forms online for brakers yards, so far one responce. A used one is only slightly cheaper(after delivery) than a new one(like £30). So ill wait abit for more responces.

Where is the CHEAPEST place to buy Ferodo ds2500 pads?

What about Ferodo ds2500 on the tt front brakes and Ferodo DS4003 on the Rear ibiza gti brakes?

The rear ds4003 are no more expensive than the ds2500 rears. I dont think my car is ready for full racing pads....

Ferodo DS2500 on the fronts and Pagid Fast Road on the rear, thats what I got and I'm well impressed with them.

If its not raining tonight i will bleed the entire system. Im going to order some new pads too. Ill update this thread once i have done the above.

EDIT: pedal feel isnt amazing to be honest. Its got the same biting point if you know what i mean. Its not like if you take a new car like a mk2 leon fr out, there brakes are so sensitive and at the top of the pedal. But i think my car would stop the fastest out of the 2.

The only problem is, if i brake on any kind of corner or anything its like "hello back end. Oh WTF you are right in front of me!!"

Thats the same as mine yeah, it starts to stop at the same point as it did with standard brakes on. I know what you mean about new cars as well, it was after having a lend of an astra vxr that finally made me get working on my car.
