if you had a 2004 LCR but were in a position where you may have to sell it to release some capital and the car had a few mods on it would you;

A) try and sell it as it is & hope somebody that likes that sort of thing buys it?

B) remove all the mods apart from the remap and return it to standard & sell the mods seperately?

i'm interested on your views on this as it may be time to sell my car on to pastures new :( and buy something a bit cheaper.................... i'm thinking about a MK3 ibiza cupra.

Sell mods seperately.

Will open your car up to a wider audience if its standard (except the map).

thats what i'm thinking. the list of mods are below........
forge oil, water and strut caps,
forge short shift,
forge TIP and top intercooler hoses,
forge 007p dv,
ramair induction kit,
ECS "race" N75,
S2000 stubby aerial (sp)
audi S3 strut brace,
brembo cross drilled front discs,
ferodo ds performance pads all round,
aero wipers all round
sony head unit,
2x rockford fosgate subs and rockford fosgate amp,

i know the brakes and wipers would have to stay on the car but everything else i've kept the standard parts in storage. i don't want to have to sell but at the moment there doesn't seem to be much choice!

Blimey mate,

I would go for Mk3, can get them around 4-5K now, standard or tuned....

As for selling, I would strip mods off if you can, or put it or sale on here with Mods and see if anyone is interested in it as it is...

Mike

Oh... sorry to hear this mate.

Deffo strip it all off.. I'd even go as far as saying see if you can either sell the rempaed ECU and get a stock one.. or if someone will part ex a stock one..

You deffo have a larger market if it's stock.

Good luck tho mate.

As above, you limit your market if you keep it modified.

Unfortunately you can't remove the ECU and simply swap it with another similar car though, not unless you know how to use VAG-COM to re-program it to your car, keys and immobiliser.

P.S... Let me know when you're selling the short shifter ;)

its gutting that i'm even considering letting it go but without going into too much detail i need money, not too much but enough to warrant selling the car and then getting another car with what is left over. it has caused a few arguements in the karlosR household but hey-ho every cloud has a silver lining and all that! at the end of the month i'm taking my private plate off and i'll start putting the standard parts back on, :(

Suggested as there are plenty people around him that have the facilities to do the ECU for him FOC... or for a drink lol

Have you thought about getting a cheap old diesel for now... I know it's a major difference from what you've got... but you can pick up some alright ones for not that much.

Shame it has to come to this really, but there are more important things than cars

And in the future you never know, you might be able to come back to the LCR gang again :)

maybe, i've never been the sort of person to chop and change their car very often and i intended to keep this for a long while so if i do sell i doubt i'll get another one anytime soon...... but at least my next car will be a SEAT!

I'd definately strip the mods and sell it as standard (or as standard as possible ;)) The first car I "modified" was my 206 GTi, spent a small fortune making it into a GTi 180 lookalike... was only offered standard book price for it though. I sold all the extras for about half what I paid for them, but still worked out better off than if I'd sold the car as it was :)

p.s. I'm on the look out for an S3 strut brace :p

well, i decided tonight that i was going to keep it and sort out the financial issues some other way. how did it repay me? by dying on me thats how! the tensioner pulley broke on me......... gutted!

i've decided to keep it mike so i'll be keeping the mods too. i've been spanking the overtime recently so my finances should be sorted over the next couple of months. besides, who would want to buy a broken LCR?

all fixed! thanks to alex and the boys at TTS for sourcing an original vag part for me and not some cheapo pattern copy. it wasn't off the road for more than two days and i missed it........... but then again i was having to make do with a mondeo V6! :(

yeah, i can't bring myself to get rid of it. i've been spanking the overtime recently so hopefully my financial situation will change.
