Hey guys,

Thinking about selling my loved pd170 in a rare orange colour =]
No idea what I'm going to replace it or not yet just a thought really.
Anyone know what she's worth?
2009 plate pre facelift 35k miles on the clock

Let me know
Thanks

Didn't you just get it?? Or it seems that way as you've just done a bunch of (great) mods

Yeh thanks for input guys, I've had the car about 3 months and after seeing Dave.c I got very jealous lol.
Just wanted to know what the at was worth just incase I do decide to go petrol ^^

Doubt it though because I love the car and colour also spent quite a bit on it ^^

I'd swap it for my Ibiza Cupra tdi lol

It's in a nice bright yellow as well hahahahahahahahahaha

Don't get rid of that car I love it mate its a head turner and cheepish to run beat of all worlds

If everything is sound with it don't be quick to get rid. You could switch to another car and have no end of problems and wish you'd just kept it instead!

Problem I have with my MK2 FR TDI which is making me think about swapping is...

a) Insurance! For me it's actually cheaper to insure a Audi A5 Cabrio. ;)
b) It's a pre facelift so my tax seems to go up £5 every year. Now £170. (A new Ibiza for e.g. with the CR 2.0 TDI is £30 a year!)
c) Price of Diesel!!! If it goes up anymore im gonna run it on bluddy single malt whisky!
d) The boot on the Leon is actually pretty darned pathetic. We've bought a new pram for the little one recently and I thought it was a "compact" fold away one until I find I have to take all the wheels off to get it in the boot!

However I still absolutely love the thing and with it in remapped form is an absolute power house of pure torque. Love watching the faces of those with chavved up old A3's and Astras as they scream round roundabouts in front of me simply to be overtaken again by me as I use the cars incredible 50-70 time.

It's a tricky one it really is!

Same here with me, insurance quotes for something like a cupra R/bmw 320d/scirocco gt are around the same which has really got me thinking into changing soon

Cupra R with stage 2 map lowered with side skirts and intake etc all declared £385 excess is £500 though.
One advantage if being in your 30s I suppose.

Insurance is stupid all together! I'm 18, 1 years no claims. I can be insured now for £1100 on my 1.2tsi Leon s. I can also be insured on a 1.4tsi Ibiza CUPRA for the SAME price. That also means the insurance is the same for a fabia 1.4tsi AND polo 1.4tsi gti. All with DSG. It doesn't add up especially since I'm putting the value of my car as £7k and the value of the other as £11k. So £4k more and with 180bhp instead of 105bhp and a lot more desirable (I think anyway).

It's not just the car though, it's the statistics of the people who drive them.

The Leon has probably been in more accidents (historically).

its called being young Jarre, soon as you associate the word cupra, turbo or gti and a young lad the price goes through the roof...i sell insurance and ive seen quotes of 11 grand for a 600 quid punto.

agree with you to an extent as a 2.0 tsi petrol is 50 quid less to insure than my 170bhp soot chucker! crazy

Insurance for young people is as much about what you might hit as the car you're driving. Then if you want to drive something nice yourself... And they wonder why people drive around without insurance?

It was well over a grand for 3rd party only on a 1.0 austin metro when I was 18 (13 years ago now  ).

No that's what I'm saying! My basic 1.2tsi with no sporting credentials is the same price to insure as a high performance hot hatch with a 1.4tsi engine in. In other words I can be in a car that's much more powerful and sporty than my car for the same insurance costs. Oh and the cars I dd quotes on were all newer than mine too!
