Hello everyone.

I have searched all over the forum and the internet but everything I read doesnt seem to help.
I am wanting to clean my throttle body but I have read that you have to reset it.
I dont have the equiptment to do that.
Will it be okay to clean it and not reset it?
Thanks in advance
Will

No  you can drive it but it will run like **** you can do a semi reset by tuning ignition on the opera the bonnet and you hear a hi pitched noise wait for that to stop then stat her up ;) but I do advise tou have ut reset via vag com asap for a proper jobbie there is a section on here where you can post up to find people in your area who will help you out see HERE just have a look about or start a thread asking if anyone local can help always best to search first ;)

Does the semi reset work I don't think it does somehow!! is it not just a myth, and is there any proof of it been successful. because I don't think it will work.

Watch the video that pat has posted a link to and read the thread the FAQ section is full if useful info

You can clean it thourghly without even unplugging it! then theres no need for a reset via vagcom

just a new gasket is required. cotton buds and a toothbrush is all i used.

so its only the unplugging it that makes it need resetting? can it be cleaned in situ with a bit of brake cleaner and rags/cotton buds?

It is the unplugging that creates a need to reset.

That one you linked to is only good for VCDS lite which as the name implies is limited in ability.

Search for VCDS and there are items stating latest version and full functionality. The lowest price I saw was about £48. Obviously these are counterfeit goods as the genuine is well over £200. Not sure if our site rules allow good discussion or promotion of such.

Out of respect for the developer, it shouldn't be talked about. He's a one man band and makes a living from it. Be a bit like someone selling ECUs with badger5/revo maps on them...wouldn't go down well here IMO.
