Throttle response

How do you find the throttle response to be on your TDIs?
I drive the mk4 1.9 tdi sport and I find the throttle response to be slightly inconsistent. There are times, when you press the throttle and the car just dishes out the power, but at other times it feels like it's asking 'are you sure?' before it pulls away.
Does the engine just need the time to build up the pressure in the turbo?

I drive a few company diesels and they don't have that lag between putting your foot down and pulling off. They're common rail diesels though, not PD. Wouldn't think they would be much different in usage.

i know what you mean! with my 1.9TDi i think it could be a turbo build up pressure, if not i have the DAB edition and in the petrol models they only do these in 1.4, which makes me think the diesels are restricted a slight bit, 1.9tdi must do 0-60 less than 10secs surley?

thats my verdict!!

There is a little lag below 1500 rpm in my 1.9 FR but over that it flies along

thought the MAF might be giving up on me, but since I'm not the only one having funny throttle response, I'll leave it alone.

krussel, it's a bit funny on mine, sometimes it kicks in about 1500-1600 rpm, at other times 1800-1900. There are other times which it lags after a downshift, even if the rpm's about 2200. It's always fine above 2500.

panel filter will help throttle reponse, 0-60 in a PD130 is around 9 secs, sub 8 when mapped, but 0-60 isnt a diesels forte.

Diesels wont be quick anything below 1,500prm, as you aint on the turbo then really, there are mods that can help all sorts.
