Tight gears

Hello when I first got my Ibiza it had tight gears ie would return to the middle/neutral position and sometimes would not go into 2nd of 5th without some extra push I did lubricate the hell out of gear stick ball setup inside car and selector on top of box but it did not help recently it has got worse.anybody had this or any ideas

Cables need adjusting or the clutch it's self is playing up

Check there isn't fouling the selector on top of the box mine was like this and I found my SAI filter jammed in there
