Timing gun

Hi all

I have managed to get hold of a Snap-On timing gun - the strobe light gun.
Does anyone know how to use it - i want to check the timing on my 16v.

Or is this something for the pro's to do? I am confident with doing most repairs on a car, but timing is a first.

A Snap-on timing gun, bet that wont very cheap. They sell single spanners for like £40 each,lol. But then again worth the money as the quality is superb.

Thanks for that.
But the link explains it for engines without distributors. The 16v has a distributor.
