If i replace my exhaust system cat back i would also be looking at replacing the cat, but £500 for a cat alone is a bit much, on most other cars they have a straight through system with a decat pipe.

I know they do a decat pipe for a cupra r but has anybody got one ?
If you have or know any info on them, does it give you any gain? does it affect the turbo or does it need the back pressure from the cat to work?

Is there anyway around the engine management light, or is this going to make it run like a bag of spanners because it thinks there is a problem with the car?

What would you recomened?

I opted for the 100 cell high flow sports cat as it is the most free flowing cat you can get,and you will still pass MOT emission tests. i would personally recommend that over a decat as you would end up either failing the MOT,or having to constantly switch the cats before each MOT.

you do get a bit of a gain from it,around 5-10 bhp odd, but remapped to suit it,it will make a good difference as well as a deeper sound.

the ko4 turbo creates its own back pressure so this will not affect it,even so, the only thing that would affect back pressure would be an exhaust system the same size as the downpipe i.e. 3" system with 3" downpipe. as long as the downpipe is larger than the system, its fine.

as for the engine management light, all you need to do is get the garage to shroud the sensor - which fools the engine management system into thinking that the cat is there and fine :cartman:

the standard LCR cat is worth like £120 due to the platinum and stuff so i say either get a discount,or ask to keep the cat so you can sell it for a few bob yourself.

hope this helps

Go for the decat mate, I've got a THS decat for an S3/TT modified to fit my LCR and coupled with an aftermarket exhaust it sounds the nuts!!
It gives a really meaty roar and an EXTREMELY loud backfire from first to second and second to third.

As for the emmisions light, u can buy a tool to reset the light on fleabay for £17+p&p
and come MOT time, either find yourself a "friendly" tester or just change back to standard, only takes 20mins and only has to be done once a year. Easy :D

how did you modifiy the ths one to fit? as it says 225 tt and s3. i dont see why it wouldnt fit the lcr? what had to be modified? thanks

got the magnex one on mine with a standard exhaust .. when letting off at about 2.5 - 3k it sounds really deep and pops when coming to lights in second.
got the eml light on mine but it dont bother me
