That thing that looks like a throttle body is actually a valve that cuts of the air to the intake when you turn off your engine. It prevents engine shudder. And about exhaust gasses, they will be evacuated through the exhaust, only part of them are recirculated anyway and the only reason for that are emissions. I passed the MOT easily though with the egr blanked off, but I live in Romania so... The best way is to keep the body of the EGR so you can benefit from the anti-shudder valve, but blank off the pipe that connects to it from underneath, through which the exhaust gasses are recirculated. The
problem with this is that the mass of air that passes through the MAF will increase and it will cause a Check Engine Light on your dashboard. The only sure way to get rid of it is with a remap. I used a variable resistor and lowered the voltage from the MAF so it kind of matched what the ECU was expecting. Sometimes it takes more than a month for the light to come back on, sometimes it comes on after 10 minutes. The rebuild of the engine was a lot of fun, I really enjoyed taking every bit apart, cleaning it spotless and putting everything back together. It took me a whole week to get rid of all the soot from the cylinder head until it had nice clean ports for the intake and exhaust. I took pictures too

. As for the central locking
problem, I do have factory mounted central locking, I just don't have the key with the remote, it's a simple key with no buttons. I'll try to program the
Ibiza key using the methods I found online, but I don't have high hopes. I made a thread where I ask for
help but no luck yet.
