Yeah I noticed it kinda fitted but not properly eg the USB couldn't be connected at the same time as clipping the ring mount on, which is obviously not ideal!!

The two main parts, the USB "plug" needs to filed down until it fits, trail and error guys, about a mm off all sides!

p69296134.html

the tip of the screwdriver is pointing at the position of the "lips" which need to be removed, (already done in this shot)

the ring split apart and the bits used to put it back together... the screws are M2.5 x12mm NOT the original ones which are too short, the packing is some dense foam cut to shape...

goes together like....

....and...

hope this helps :D

hum pictures not showing.... erm hang on

Sorry to keep asking questions but here goes:

Does this mean I just need to get some of these longer screws and something to fill the gap that will be created?

Thanks for all your help!!

yeah, sort of, there's a little cutting to do as well, the "lips" and the USB "plug" need to be adjusted.
The Screws I got from maplins, they do a box of little screws, there are also some small spring washers in there too, the foam I don't know where to suggest you get that from, but it needs to be a VERY dense closed cell foam....

Don't really know anything about foam so just having a browse on eBay, seems to be a fair bit of choice... Any advice on how thick it should be?

the foam was approx 5-10mm thick, I used a foam plug for cable ducting (ask a BT engineer, if you see one:D) and cut it down to size, or PM me your address and I'll post you one!

try keeping an eye out for a BT engineer, ask him (or her) for a foam duct plug, they are about 2 inchs in radius and an inch deep, or maybe some sleeping mat foam? needs to be very dense as it's to space the gap but also gives a bit of flex....

got my hands on some foam, but asked in Maplin about the screws and they couldn't help - any more specific info I could give?

they lie! It's a little box, costs about £2.99 and has an item code of N52BU, have a look on the maplin web site....

(remove the first dot :) )

Thanks! I emailed them before but as you can tell they obviously didn't know what they were talking about! Ordered all the bits I need so looking forward to giving this a go/wish me luck!

Got my car this morning, when the cradle is in two parts and only the USB connector is attached to the car dock I'm not sure that it fits into the bottom of the device and have no indication of it charging - did yours attach easily/it feels like a tight squeeze?

First off, congrats on the car, not jealous at all:whistle:

Second yep you've got to take about a mill off the usb plug to get the bloody thing to fit, I did mention somewhere up there  little at a time, and just keep checking :)

Thanks - I did then reread, feel stupid and try and edit my post but couldn't, taking it slowly making sure not to break it!! Hopefully will get there in the end

don't be sorry! ;) just make sure it works! :)

looking at it again, might do it a completely different way next time, just cut the old USB plug off the cradle and get a lead with plug on and solder it onto the connections inside.....

but that's next time!
