Hello all,

My LC suspension seems to be a lot more harsh lately when driving over small bumps and pot holes. I read a few posts which point at the top suspension mounts. Does anyone know if this is a DIY job or one for the stealers. Does anyone have a guide on how to do both the rear and front mounts.

Thanks in advance

easy job mate, but youll ned a set of spring compressors and a lot of patience to get your front strutsout... took me 4 hours to do full spring strut change on my cupra?

look at avs car parts for ne mounts, youll need bearings aswell though...

dealer will probably charge 3 hours labour at £60 ish an hour, so worth having ago yourself if your spanner handy?

It is a DIY job if you have a bit of spanner knowledge
you'll also need sporing compressors and a long reach socket with a hex drive on the top of it. This allows you to tighten the bolt that hold the strutt in while holding the strutt inplace with an allen key through the top of the socket.

The rear is a very easy job.

You'll be about £70 for the bushes and bearings.

If you want a guide I could type up something for you

70 quid?! I paid £7 each for my OE top mounts, bearings cant be that much?

Have a look for some of the suspension changing guides and follow them.

Well a word of warning about GSF

It's still not confirmed but I bought GSF top mounts and within 1,000 miles they all 'seem' to be fecked

This is not confirmed yet but will be changing mine for OEM ones very soon.

I wouldn't buy GSF again after this

Thanks for that dude, much appreciated, i might order some proper OEM ones and get them done.

Cheers

Is your an lcr?

GSF told me they don't do them for the LCR, dealer only part.

Just replaced the front pair, £30ea for the dealers. They're easy enough 2 change but removing the strut from the hub is a pain.
