hi guys

im a total newbie when it comes to seats

im on the look out for a new car and a seat leon 1.8 20v t is one of my options, ive always liked the look of these and the build quality seems good etc

what do i look out for? any tips? any advice? i no nothing about these cars and am basically trying to do my homework on them.

any help would be greatly appreciated

becky x

common faults

rear washer jet not working - usually due to the hose poping off
leak in footwell - usually due to improperly fitted pollen filter housing
water collecting on drivers sill - usually due to drainage holes blocked
squeeking from rear - ususally caused by the latch on the rear seats
glove box drops open - adjustment of latch can be required

other than that its just looking at general maintenence.. checking the service history with the car

if its got stamps in the book, has it got any paperwork/reciepts to back it up.

if its over 4yrs old has it had its timing belt done

is its the dark blue colour its easily prone to stonechips so check for this aswell.

thanks for your help

wat kind of insurance costs do you lot pay? im 27 with 7 yrs ncb

Hi becky, welcome to the site its a very useful one but always try to use the search button when unsure as on most occasions it would have been covered.

Anyways im 24 with 1year ncb so whatever you pay its gonna be alot cheaper than me!

Good luck and get a black one.[B)]

most importantly check for good service history and any previous accidents the car may have been in

if the car has done over 60k, make sure it has had the cambelt done as it should have been done with that mileage on the clock

other than that and from what others have already said, the car is pretty solid

thanks for your help guys

are the leons pretty reliable cars? are parts readily available and fairly priced?

what kind of gadgets would i get with a 1.8 20v turb? climate? etc

thanks again

Yup, most parts are cheap and you can get the from SEAT, VW Audi, Skoda so lots of wee bits fit!

My insurance before my ban was £670 for a LCR with 0yrs NCB,
was 22yo before may when i got banned, that was with and SP50,
me and the misses(23yo), car was on the drive, and it was standard at that point.
We live in low crime area and car is on drive.
I know it is a LCR but should be a LOT cheaper than that!

cheers for your help peeps

best quote ive got so far is 440 fully comp which isnt bad

im going to try and view a few the wk end :)

that is VERY cheap!! Im 23 with 3yrs no claims, never had a speeding fine or conviction of any kind and my renewal was £615 last week. However, I phoned around for alternatives and the nearest I got was £750ish from Adrian Flux.

Who is your insurer????

insurance isnt too bad
the Cupra and Cupra R are both group 17
im 24, 2yrs NCB, EVERYTHING declared and have a crap postcode rating even though its safe and im paying circa 800 fully comp for this year

ive had mine now for 2 years this november, and its never put a foot wrong!!!!!!!!

any where you lot can suggest to look for a leon? apart from the obvious autotrader, piston heads etc

Hi and welcome! What sort of age Leon are you planning to go for? There are some differences in the bodykits used through out it's life time...

personally I prefer the later Cupra over the early one - it has the addition of side skirts and nicer front and rear bumpers over the standard models which make it stand out as being a bit more special :)
