Tow bar for leon

Hi guys,
Anyone had a tow bar fitted to a Leon cupra recently?
I need to get one with single electrics. My previous Cupra sport had a detachable tow bar. very neatly concealed but it was an absolute pain to get the electric plug in a out through that tiny orifice in the rear bumper.
I want to fit an NORMAL tow bar like a Witter.
My new Cupra seems to have an even bigger bumper than the old sport. Does it need to be cut to fit a normal tow bar. Any advice on reccommended models appreciated.

Please don't town anything with your Cupra, it would be a tragedy.

If its any consolation I only tow my single handed racing dinghy (hey thats cool!).
So wont be blocking any country roads with a huge caravan!

Dont Bother

Hi

I had mine booked in for a detachable tow bar "swan neck type" went down, they told me the would'nt have to cut the bumper at all as that's what the insturctions from the manufacturer said!! 2 hours into the job, phone rings, we have to cut the bumper!!! No cover to go over andm would look a mess!

Told them not to bother and out the car back together.

Fitter told me he was doing one that weekend for an indenrtical car, driven by a women. I went down to look at the finished job and boy what a way to spoil the arse end of a leon.

So go buy something else to tow and keep your cupra for what it was designed for. FUN.

Thanks for that mate.
My Leon Sport had a detachable tow bar that poked through a hole low down in the bumper. When removed the hole was covered by a clip in cover and was impossible to see but the sport had a two tone bumper the lower half being black.
My new cupra has a fully colour coded bumper so a big hole with a black cover would look crap! Also there is quite an art to getting the hole and cover aligned nicely - not a job for a muppet fitter!
What a bummer I don’t really want to buy another car to tow my boat, perhaps I will just give up sailing!

Towbar for Seat Leon

Bought A Thule Detachable Towbar for my 2001 Seat Leon last year.

Yes there was a bumper cut with it, but for the price and the fact that your getting the Thule Brand i wasnt complaining. Got it fitted at my local garage with single electrics for my trailer. Only charged my £80 to install. Well chuffed
