Tow Bar Pre-Install

Hi All - A quick question for those in the know re towbars.

I have a Mk 3 Leon FR at the moment (67 plate), and had Tow Bar Express retro-fit a detachable swan-neck tow bar a couple of years ago. It's worked great. I didn't have the wiring pre-install so I paid extra for the vehicle specific wiring (mainly for warranty reasons - I have an extended factory warranty) which added £250 or so.

This time with my new Mk 4 Leon SE (on the way, not yet arrived) I've ordered the tow bar wiring pre-install. I'm trying to work out if this means I don't need to go with vehicle-specific wiring and that a retro-fit can just be plugged straight into that wiring without vehicle-specific wiring or coding. But I'm finding it hard to get an answer. Does anyone know?

Thanks a lot

Adam

I thought long and hard about a towbar on my new Leon, in the end the factory fitted bar came in at around £700 whereas the Seat retro fitted would have come in well over £1000! Apparently its not just the towbar, there's pipework, intercoolers that need upgrading too, hence the cost.

So naturally i went with the facrory fitted, so cool it popping from under the car....

Whoever told you that coolers & pipework need changing are talking out of their backside

Thanks all. I wonder if I can change my order to add a factory towbar while I'm waiting for a confirmed production date - is that likely to push the date of production back?
