Hi

Just been out in the Exeo, driving along the tyre pressure warning came on... stopped and checked tyres they all looked OK, I did not put any air in...

Turned ignition on the yellow warning lamp stays on, then a bleep and the red tyre warning appears in the display...

Plugged in VCDS this is the fault...

Tried to clear code but it comes straight back on....

Any ideas? I have read on the Ross Tech website it may just be a reset using diagnostics, but I am not that experienced to mess ... lol

There maybe a way of checking which wheel is causing the fault, I would look in measuring blocks, tyre pressure monitoring, just might show which one is at fault, I presume you know it does'nt measure the tyre pressures, but works in conjunction with the esp system, by using rotational speed of each wheel.

Did you try the following:

1. Turn off engine, no contact.
2. Wait 2 minutes.
3. Press and hold tyre switch
4. Make contact and wait until system say it's 'Ok!'
5. Release tyre switch.

It happened to me often after changing tyres (winter/summer). Sometimes it takes 10-20 minutes but sometimes it takes longer (even days) before I get the alarm.

it only take a couple of psi to make it come on.. when one wheel is lower in pressure than the others the dynamic rolling radius becomes smaller, so for a set speed that wheel will roatate faster.

when you reset the pressures it then counts for the next 10 mins or so of driving in a straight line the number of pulses for each wheel, this sets the base line.

if one wheel then loses pressure it will rotatae faster and therefore pulse more vis the ABS sensor than the other wheels, and therefore put the low pressure light on..

check the pressures, one will be lower than the others, it might look OK, but if you get the point one wheel looks "flatter" you have already lost a fair chunk of pressure interms of safety and fuel economy.

pump the tyres back up then follow the above reset and all will be fine.. no need to see the dealer unless that doesnt work... the first thing they will ask is have you actually cjhecked the pressure??

Well... I have had the car repaired..... I don’t think any amount of resets would have worked... Lol

At first the Seat dealer thought it was an issue with the actual control module.. then suggested it may be just the switch, so he took one from another vehicle to try... when he removed the switch from my
car the earth wire to the switch was broken from its terminal....

It was a clean break were the wire joins the terminal in the connector block.

Strange how these things just happen to a wire that never really moves...Lol

30 minutes later he had repaired the wiring with a new terminal... all repaired.. Did 25 miles this morning no warning light :)

Thanks again for all your help, I really appreciate it..

The TPMS is a mixed blessing - it signaled that I was ONE psi under when I put the spare on a few weeks ago and then refused to calm itself until I put the original wheel back on. But this week, I checked the tyres and found the offside front down by SEVEN psi. Guess what? No warning. Maybe it's sulking.

Don't know if this helps but my nearside rear tyre pressure sensor kept coming on. Constant resests and tyre seemed fine. Turns out the inner edge of my alloy had a small buckle and that is what was triggering the sensor, whether it was the vibration or periodic small losses of air... worth a check by yourself!

Exeo TPMS

Randomly as im driving the ABS warning light illuminates followed by the letters TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring system) it could be a 1000 miles between episodes. I used to stop the car and get out and check the tyres which were always ok, before reseting the TPMS button. Now I find if I just stop switch off the ignition and re-start the car the warning light and message has disappeared. Diagnostic check highlights a brake pedal fault has anyone else come accross this issue.
