I recently brought a seat Leon Fr tdi. It wasn't until I got it home I realised it had no traction control and the abs didn't work either :( but no lights on the dash board :/ so today I decided to take the dash apart with suspicion that some idiot had covered the warning lights in the dash board.
This is what I found small balls of gaffer tape stuffed into the holes

Yeah it was a private sale but it's been about 4 weeks now and I can't prove if it was the last owner who did it

Mate I feel for you. Looks like you might have a g44 abs sensor out and maybe an airbag connector knackered under the seat. But at least that will be 2 common problems sorted though! Get it scanned asap mate.

I've got 01435 brake pressure sensor ( abs modual I think ) and every airbag has a fault code so haven't a clue with the air bag ones

Contact SEAT UK and tell them you have the g201 fault, this is covered for free by then regardless of service history, age, mileage whatever. It might need to be scanned again by the dealer though, but the cost should be covered eventually. Be persistent and don't let the dealer fob you off.

Were the codes for the airbag cleared? On mine the passenger side ignitor was duff and the repair was £90, but the whole system was disabled until the repair was done.

Thats terrible mate. Was it you who posted something about this back along or was it someone else? I remember someone having no dash lights.
Defo tap up Seat UK about the g201 fault. If its not then they will charge you for the scan, but at least you have your foot in the door and maybe get lucky or even some good will from them.

Whoever did this, I really hope his c0ck falls off and his wife leaves him and rinses him of all his ill gotten gains and then torches his bedsit with him in it.

By Seat uk do you just mean a main dealer ?

No, SEAT UK, it's better to get them involved instead of dealing directly with a dealer:

I contacted SEAT via email and was contacted by a customer service rep when I had an ABS pump issue with my car. It's better to get SEAT UK involved as they will contact the dealer and yourself and liaise. I had an ABS pump fault on my car and the dealer never diagnosed the fault correctly with their first diagnosis which they asked me to pay for @ £70 and then booked the car in for a second diagnosis again at £70 (which I manage to get waived by complaining to SEAT UK).

Interestingly, I kept mentioning to the dealer that I had read that the ABS pumps on VAG cars were known to fail it's a common fault with the G201 code. They kept fobbing me off by saying that the G201 error code was for the older models (pre P1, apparently) and my ABS pump was not affected by the G201 issue.

I'm going to see if I have any diagnosic papers from when the repair was done, my ABS pump replacement was over £620.

This thread has reignited my anger about my ABS pump issue so I've had a look through some old emails that I kept from SEAT UK.
Not sure if this will help anyone with a G201 error but I was told this by SEAT UK:

"I must inform you that the problem you are experiencing is not related to the issues that are discussed on the
internet forums you have provided.

Your vehicle has the Teves MK70 without ESP function and the fault that you are experiencing is of no relation to the above. As your vehicle is now outside the Manufacturers Warranty, you as the owner are responsible for any repair costs that may be necessary. Your bill will be £680 for a new ABS pump unit"

Link to the article that I mentioned to SEAT UK which covers the Ate/Teves MK60 ABS pump:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring...th-Teves-Mk60-ABSESP-systems-Honest-John.html

When I had the issue with my ABS pump I found a few companies (ECU tuning, Sinspeed, BBS Reman..) that will recon a faulty ABS unit for much lower cost than a new unit and also provide a lifetime guarantee. I revisted Sinspeed and found this:

"The Teves MK70 (ATE) ABS unit is fitted to a wide range of modern vehicles and has similar design flaws as the earlier Teves MK60 ATE ABS pump. Both units have internally built pressure sensors with a low maximum pressure rating and have identical common failures as you can see below"

http://www.sinspeed.co.uk/teves-mk70-ate-abs-pump-repair-service/

While you are on to Seat UK, it might be worth asking if they have any other history logged for the car done at a dealership, like cambelt or something and ask about the injector recall if its a PD.

Do you know the seller? I'd be having a word or three as I'm pretty sure it wouldn't pass a mot like that....
