Hello all,

I plan to buy a Formentor ... doing some research etc....and just can't find out what is the difference between these two buttons. What is the "circle" one used for? The first one should be travel assist, but a car dealer is trying to convince me that also the second picture is a "travel assist". Could you help me to understand the difference between those two?

The circle one in the picture on the right is adaptive cruise control.
It will adapt your speed to the car in front and sides (under and over taking), also road signs if set.
It won’t however hold the car in the lane, meaning you still have to steer.

Travel assist, which is the left picture, will hold the car in the lane as well as everything else.

For me, I wouldn't make a buying decision on the car having travel assist or not. My car has it and I was not impressed with it. I can do a much better job of keeping the car in a lane and keeping my attention on the road. Just sitting there letting the car try to drive itself is going to lead to a lack of attention and the inevitable disaster ?

Agree.

All of these non-seeing and non-thinking nannying safety aids can only do so much - ultimately, IMHO the driver should always be in control.

yea... I would agree as well... Was just wondering what is the difference between those two :)
I will eventually get a manual one that seems do not have travel assist at all from what I can see when searching second-hand ones...

After just a few days of ownership, I have developed a routine of sorts. Even I get into the car I go through a cycle of turning fluff off, one at a time, setting the car to hybrid mode.

The only assist I *like* is the front assist, since it seems to use the braking as high voltage battery charge back :)
