Had a good look at all the pipes today and everything seems clean except the one I mentioned earlier, I've sealed it up as best I can and I'll order a new one tomorrow.

Took it out for a spin and still the same problem, I can hear the turbo but there's absolutely no power from it. When I replaced the first hose there was a load of sediment built up around the intake, is it possible this has got sucked into the turbo somehow?

Creamy gloopy stuff? Dont worry It cant get to the turbo from there.

Check the Turbo intake pipe and intercooler pipes. If you search on here you will find the locations.

sometimes with the pipes under where the oil feed is the breather hoses might still look ok but tbh you have to whip them off to check them propley, its not to bad to do pretty easy, a pain to whip out but it ok to do, by the way don't work on cars when your in a rush it never works out :( check the play of the turbo as well see if that's ok

I've been a royal tit today on the service, I was in rush as I was running late for work and drained the bloody gearbox oil accidentally :funk: made it about 500 yards and realized second gear was making a nasty whirring noise, managed to get it back home and take the girlfriends car. Do you think I might have done any long term damage?

So what did you do with your new engine oil?
Did you check the level whilst filling the engine? surley then you would have realised you drained the wrong one before you turned the key.

As I said, I did it all in a rush. I drained the (gearbox) oil, replaced the plug and filled the engine oil so she must have been very low I checked it two weeks ago and levels were fine so I'm assuming it all came out when this pipe split.

Need to find a local Vagcom specialist so I can work out what the issue is here.

Does the turbo whistle, ie is it spooling up ok?
Could be a diverter valve or boost control valve issue.
No offence here but if you don't know where to drain or fill oil then you really shouldn't be servicing your car yourself.....

Yeah I appreciate that, I don't claim to be a master mechanic but I can usually tell the difference between the engine oil and the gear oil sump! I was in a rush, I just jacked the car up, saw the plug and unscrewed it. Learnt my lesson anyhow.

To be honest, my first car was 1.2 Clio, which was a piece of p**s to work on, then went up to a beemer but had that for about a month before it got stolen so never got a chance to look under the hood properly. I popped the lid off the Leon, saw all the pipes and just thought 'Sh*t'.

I might just have to bite the bullet and take her to a vag specialist but moneys tight atm and I'm trying to save wherever I can

Finally sorted it, gave Matt Green Auto Solutions a call who came out this morning to print a reading and turns out there was an air leak (obviously). He replaced the pipe for me and hey presto, 180 horses!

Would highly recommend Matt for anyone in the Farnham, Camberley, Reading area.

Did notice the engine stopped briefly at about 4k revs, unleashed a tonne of blue smoke over the A331 then took off. I put some Jetex in the tank when I started having the problems so I'm assuming it was come kind of blockage that's cleared now.

Thanks to everyone for your help, feels good to have my horses back :D

where was the leak bud?

I wish I could tell you with some degree of accuracy! It was one of the air feeds at the very front of the engine, between the fan and the engine itself. Only a small hose but it's made a huge difference :p

tell me about it. These things are a nightmare for leaks. do some research on good quality jubilee clips as well might save you a few headaches in the future.

I guess it could of been some or one of the hoses that craked buy the oil feed (abit deep in the engine)at the front there the ones that split on me,if u could find the exact pipe it could help others:)
