Ok my mk1 leon FR tdi is at 135,000 miles now and still running sweet. Its due an oil/filter change and cambelt and water pump change, also gonna have the cams looked at cause iam getting a slight knocking noise from in there somewhere. Ive got big plans for this car such as porsche brakes, turbo back exhaust system, uprated turbo and clutch and remap, my question is, is all that worth it on a car thats already done 135,000 miles ?

Entirely depends on how well the car has been looked after previously. I think you'd be relatively safe with Stage 1 and then see how you feel afterwards? I can understand that you're worried about spending £'s on it and then it goes bang. Diesels last alot longer than petrols if looked after properly.

Oh, first thing is to get the cambelt and water pump done!! :headhurt:

Yeah agree - if you can see yourself having it till 200,000 then go for it :D

All that work aint really going to be a selling point on a 135+k miles diesel

Iam planning on keeping it for a good few years yet, but just wondered if the extra horses would put too much strain given the millage it's covered Making it unreliable or forever replacing parts. I just didn't want to start spending money on a car that might already be past it's sell-by-date.

Oh and yes before any tuning I was getting the cambelt and pump done, and the brakes as there pretty poor stoping the car in standard form.

Yes wasn't really looking to add value to the car, just more speed and fun but still be reliable with good MPG

If I was you i'd get the remap done as they will tweak it within the cars limit. You can ask them to 'turn it down a bit' if you want to be uber safe. Get a proper tuning company to do it - not one of those fleabay jobbies.

After that see how you feel about further mods.

Good luck!

Your car will be fine. I know people with tuned lcr at 120k as its running great. 130k isnt half way through its life on your car.
