Tuning a TDi

Just had my Mk1 Leon SE TDI 130 Re-mapped the other day at Chip Wizards in Milnrow, Lancashire.
The guy there Wayne, was very impressed by its first run, he thought it had been played with already as it produced 156 bhp before he even did anything.
After a couple of runs and a bit of jiggery pokery on his lap top, 188 bhp was produced, and I went home with a big smile on my face, and all for £350.
He also mapped a previous Mk1 Cupra 20vt 180 of mine up to 218 bhp.
So, there's my story, choose carefuly, there's always plenty out there, sometimes alot cheaper than these 'OFF THE SHELF' type re-maps.

Wayne is a magic man with the mapping. I didn't know he felted Diesels as well. Have you got a pic of your power curve?

Wayne mapped my old saxo engine, and the chances are he will do my new one at some point too. :)

No harm to engine, but harm to your pocket. I assume that considering you could not afford to get a decent remap, you cant afford to waste money on diesel.

I personally would not plug one of those things into my pride and joy.

A remap will produce 40-50bhp extra for £300. Thats a good return I think.

Why tell them? They can't detect it, anyway it can always be removed if you have an accident. Your call but I certainly wont.

Some people prefer to be covered no matter what the risk of being caught.
If it helps someone to keep a clean conscience in the unfortunate result of an accident, then it's worth it.
Besides, how do you remove a remap when a lorry hits you head on and you suffer from a broken spine?

And how do they detect it when the ecus crushed? Its a load of bollocks if you ask me. Each car produces different power anyway. Some 130s produce 150 standard which is only as much as others do after a remap.

Insurance companies use the remap as an excuse to rob people. You could even argue you have no idea as its invisible?

I very much agree about different car produce different power as standard , and also that Wayne (chip wizards) is about as good as its gets , my partner was taking with him a couple of days ago and wayne said that a good 95% of most tuning houses buy in or down load there chips/maps from the major chip/programme companies , and very very few actually do in house live mapping/programming.

Which brings me to ask and inform you guys that said partner will be going into partnership with someone who has the ability at actually live mapping , and not just standard motor petrol's/diesels but heavily modded ones also.

Once up and running who would be interested in a very much reduced £££'s live mapping session to see what a possitive impact this type of tuning gives , he mapped a 140hp 2.0L tdi a couple of days ago and got 210hp out of her and said there was more but it would have needed a larger turbine wheel or overall turbo to extract more power.

so is revo the recommended tuner because i have heard lots about them and lots of people being very happy with the product i am confident i can get my diesel to 200 bhp by the end of the year but what about clutch problems?at what power should you change a clutch?

Its the torque more than the power mate. I'd say speak to P-Torque or Bell Autos. They will do you a custom remap at a fraction of the price. You should be able to run 200bhp and 300plus lb/ft on the Leon clutch if its delivered right. :)

Struglers, I have the same problem as you, I want a remap but dont want a new clutch. Pete at Bells Auto's can make you a remap with slightly less torque than maximum, this saving clutch problems.

Have a chat with him, he's in forum sponsor section. I will be going to see his asap.

Upload the pics fromt he camera to your pc. Save them in a place you can find easily (maybe the desktop temporarily). Then go to http://imageshack.us/ and up load them there.

Once you have done that either post the links, or if you are feeling fruity, use this
insertimage.gif
button to post the pics.
