My understanding is that both will create more soot (because on a real basic level they shove more fuel in) thus it will clog the DPF sooner - so in both cases a DPF removal is advised.

There are various people on here running both of them with varying results from what I have read - even some running the CR engine and Tuning box with DPF in place.

My personal opinion is that the tuning box modifies the map signal from the ECU so can only really do a really basic power increase modification where as the remap can finely tune the Map to be correct at all times. It also helps that a lot of companies offer both a DPF removal and Remap in one bundle that isnt much more expensive than just having one of them done...

EDIT:

Sorry, I made the assumption you have a Diesel... is it a Diesel you want remapping?

Just wondering what everyone's opinion's are on these?

I wanna get a bit more out my 57 plate FR

Which route would you go down and what are peoples experiences with both?

Just get a dpf delete plus remap, there is a few companies people recommend on here including shark, darkside, p torque etc, have a search around

Hmmmm... not really. The map also increases boost so the increase in fuelling is to compensate and you still get a comparible A/F ratio. That's the basics of all turbo tuning, more air with more fuel = more power.

£300 for the map 205 BHP 420NM torque

im really happy with the results from it and I know a few people who have his remaps .

The OP is on about a PD not a CR, they're a different kettle of fish regarding the DPF.

I would recommend you go to a trusted company but its your money, if you haven't already do a search on here about what companies people have used

Cheers, What about if I got rid of the DPF first and then got remap later?

Would I see any changes without DPF?

DPF off without mapping it out of the ECU will eventually lead to error codes. Possibly quite quickly even. I know some people on here have made it to their mapping place without codes after removing the DPF themselves

Best just do it all in one go at a reputable tuner
