Maybe a really stupid question, but has anyone tried removing the TIP and clamping an air filter directly to the turbo, the engine bay is so limited to space you can't run a good induction kit, I'm talking about a 1.9tdi

If you bolt the maf directly to the turbo it'll give bad readings as there's too much instability in the air flow that close to the turbo, you might damage it with all the heat as well.

If you want to remove the maf all together and just run Map you'll have to dig into your pocket and get it mapped accordingly, there won't be any performance benefits though.

That's fair enough, just because as I said, there's such little space for a decent induction kit under the engine bay I thought outside the box lol

Jetex cone filter, 45 degree 80mm silicone pipe and away you go. Puts the cone bang where the air filter box is.

But that also puts it bang behind the battery in no flow of cold air, not to worry anyway, I've made up my own fully carbon fibre induction kit :)

You can reuse the airbox airfeed to get cold air there. Mine never suffered being there, infact it made 214bhp and 402lbs. The way I saw it the air is going through the turbo getting heated up and then back through the intercooler (I had the seatsport fmic) to cool down again.

Yea a decent intercooler will sort you out, the cold air feed for the stock airbox will suffice, let the intercooler do the rest.

Yeah I've got airtec intercooler with Darkside hard pipe kit so no problems there, the way I always see it is the colder it goes in the intercooler, the colder it'll come out....
