yes sticky vanes are usually the result of not working them well enough during use. a good long up hill full throttle accelerate over the course of a long journey will sort them out, needs to be done regularly. mutley on here has written about it before.

OK cheers for the advice guys, I have a plan based on what I have read here.

I have given it a full service including all the filters and the timing belt kit so now I am going to use dialectric grease on the MAF & MAP, run some miller injector cleaner through it and boot it up the biggest hill for miles (just happens to be on the way to work every day) and I will report back.

Hey it can't harm it and it may just do the trick, nothing to lose really.

P.S. Adam, let us now how you get on taking it apart.

hi guys, sorry to bring the post alive again and hijacking it.. but i have the same problem too

ive never seemed to pin it down to certain points, but its happened a few times in high gears and high speeds to me, and it just feels like the turbo has cut out.

but as soon as i stop, turn the engine off, and back on again its fine?! and that bit was just baffling me..

any help guys, thanks! chris

Hi,
Just wondered if anyone else has had this problem:

Sometimes whilst I'm driving around off turbo ~ 2,000rpm, I go to accelerate and the turbo cuts out. Always at the same point ~ 2100 rpm. The problem seems to be more apparent when I'm in sixth so I assume it's to do with the amount of load on the engine.

If I keep the engine above 2200, it never cuts out.

When the turbo cuts out the engine management light doesn't come on.

I took it into Seat Derby, where they suggested an N75 valve replacement. £120 later and the exact same problem is still there.

Any help would most appreciated.

Hi Pal, Really sorry i couldnt get on here earlier, im a new user to the site and have just been chilling in the MK4 ibiza forums. Didnt even realise until this morning there was a section specially for us Derv. drivers!!! UP THE TDI POWER MASSIVE :funk:

I recently traded my Ibiza Sport (06) Petrol For an ibiza Fr (08) Derv.

I have had several problems with getting used to the diesel and last week with only 300 miles on my clock from new i was driving down the road in 6th at about 50 mph and my engine just cut off!! My "coil over light" came on so i rang Seat straight away, they didnt know what was the problem so i turned the car off and on again and it turned on and ran perfectly.

Hope this is some help. Mine is going back in this week some time to get a new sensor between the throttle and throttle body!!
