I'm having very similar problems. I purchased my first (and I promise my last) SEAT care on PCP. It is SEAT Lean FR, 25 plate, got it in May 2025. Since then I have have innumerable, intermittent faults where my engine will cut out. This can happen any time of day or night, irrespective of weather, incline or other road conditions. I cannot replicate the fault.
These happen when driving, typically at lower speeds, but with the car under power, where the engine cuts out, demanding a manual restart. This has resulted in me being rear ended once.
I refuse to put my children in the car, but my wife has driven the vehicle and similar episodes have occurred with her, with the engine cutting out.
I have take the car to the
dealership three times, the first two times they haven't found a fault and, now. the third time I've left it with the
dealership and refuse to take it back, as they cannot locate the fault.
We have not experienced any similar episodes in any previously owned cars - two Hyundai Tucson's, Hyundai i20 and i30, Dachia Duster,
SEAT Ibiza or KIA courtesy vehicle.
I also had a separate issue (which prompted taking it in) where the front sensor detected a collision alert and initiated an emergency break. The road ahead was empty. Thankfully no accident caused, and other than some mild whiplash no injuries sustained.
The
dealership, Listers Worcester, now wish for me to undertake a drive with one of their mechanics as they cannot replicate the fault. I have told them repeatedly the issue is intermittent and I cannot replicate it, but I feel they are trying to pin the issue on "how I drive". They have said they can buy the vehicle back, which would leave me massively out of pocket, and I feel that they would then sell this car to some other unsuspecting person, putting them and other road users at risk.
If anyone can
help, if anyone has found out what is causing their issue, or any advice and guidance on the next step to resolve this dispute with the
dealer taking their defective car back would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to go through legal hassle or Ombudsman but I feel this may be my only option.
