Turbo required

Hi
I have just been informed that my Leon 1.2 tsi copa needs a new turbo.
A few days ago the EPC light came on and it went into limp mode. I left it for a few hours and the EPC light disappeared but the check engine light came on but it was revving fine. Drove 20kms to home without any problems although the engine light stayed on. Checked on it next day, no warning lights whatsoever and drove it to garage. No loss of power or anything else just behaved normally. Just got a message new turbo required and they will cost it tomorrow.
Surely if the turbo was gone it wouldn't drive as normal or respond well when accelerating or sitting at 120kmph in cruise control. Or am I missing something? It's not using any more fuel recently, averaging about 44 miles to the gallon as before.
Any idea on costs? I live in Spain and have been ripped off in the past ,so some idea how much this should cost be would be gratefully received.
Thanks

Without knowing what fault codes it had no-one can help you.

Turbo could be dead, could just be the turbo actuator, could even be the N75 valve.
Thanks. I'll ask them for the codes when they hit me with the estimate. It had a new actuator about 3 years back .
