Im looking to upgrade the turbo on my Ibiza tdi PD130, to the PD150 turbo, but after speaking to AMD they have told me there is no point and i would only get the same gains with the bigger turbo as i would the standard turbo due to fueling and the clutch. I'm sure many people have changed for this turbo and had 190+bhp. Is it worth changing or is what AMD telling me true as im sure they're wrong....
Also a little off topic, is a PD130 ECU a straight swap for a PD130 ECU, yes i said PD130 twice its not a typo, I have my ECU mapped but want to buy a standard ECU and try the mapping myself as i have the software, or do i need codes to swap the ECU?
Cheers

They're right enough, tdi's get their power form the fueling and then the turbo is just added to up the compression a bit to burn the fuel better. Boost itself gives you nothing. You should see 180bhp or so with a straight map on the 130, after that you're really looking at bigger injectors as well as the turbo if you want to go further and the clutch.

Some people do talk ****!
Yes, if you put the PD150 turbo on your PD130 then you will be able to achieve higher boost pressures, therefor, more power. On a standard clutch and injectors, id say between 160-70bhp is the safe range, 170-180+ would be pushing your clutch/injectors to their limit.

Have a google for Darkside Developments, well worth a read on their site if your looking to tune your TDi.
