Hello Everyone.. I m Anth..
I have a massive dilemma, I have a Seat Leon Cupra 180Bhp on an 02 Plate. I ve had it for two years and although I work offshore and could buy a newer car, I love it and cant bare to trade her in.
The car has done 93000 miles as I do alot of travelling with work. It has been remapped to 212bhp and has had a de cat pipe installed. This was prior to me owning the car.
Just recently, i ve noticed that my car is puffing blue smoke on overrun. Its fine on accelleration, but as I take my foot off the gas, I get a bellow of blue smoke. I ve had my mate look at it and reckons that i need a new turbo.

Now I have money.. but no Car knowledge whats so ever!! lol

Is there any turbo that would be recommended for me to install on my motor. As it needs replacing, I wouldnt mind improving at the same time. Is there any other mods that people would recommend?

Would be nice to hear from other people and what they ve done and spent on their Leons!!
(Less technical terminology the better!! lol )

Any advise is appriciated.

Thanks

Anth

overrun is likely piston rings, possibly stem seals/guides

under boost blue smoke would more likely be turbo, but that does'nt sound like what you describe

So does that mean an engine rebuild? am i looking a lot of money?

following on from your phone call... and you mentioned oil externally around the turbo... I change my guess.. and would start with the turbo first. CR Turbo's offer a good rebuild service.. www.crturbos.co.uk they collect and deliver

regards

CRTurbos were excellent, He explained everything and for a rebuild of my k03 .. it was £225 + Vat. .and they would pick it up and replace within 48 hours. They even offered me a good price on an upgraded turbo. Excellent Service.

Thanks for that.

i wouldnt say it would be the turbo smoking, surely it would smoke on tick over.. over run smoke is usually rings.

i ve had the turbo off and the turbo was completely ****ed. housing badly cracked, bearings had loads of play, whole thing was covered in oil.
