turbocharger bypass valve

hi guys just brought my cupra but there is a leak coming from the turbocharger bypass valve it looks like its broken from where the dump valve joins to it i was wondering could anyone tell my what this does and could i just block it up until i get time to get a new one or should i not drive it until its replaced

Hey Jason welcome! I broke mine too when changing the vacum hoses. I just bypassed mine, as there is lots of guides on here to do it if you search. Ive bypassed mine permanently an it feels smoother. Sorry dont have any pics at the moment!

I dont know what it does but its located on top of the engine with 3 vacuum pies going to it one goes to the dump valve

N249 controls the dump valve. I would expect the phrase "turbo bypass valve" to refer to the wastegate, cotrolled by the N75 valve. However, it appears that Seat refer to N249 as the "Turbocharger Bypass Valve" :)

Note, in both cases the actual valves are elsewhere; dump valve on the inlet manifold, wastegate on the hot turbo itself. They are actuated by vacuum, and the vacuum is controlled by the Nxxx valves. The N18 valve controls the EGR valve in the same way, and the N239 controls the anti-shudder valve on diesels.
