Turbosmart on coldside problem

Ive recently done a coldside relocation for my Turbosmart

I just need to know which is the right way for the turbosmart below?

I currently have it like picture 1, to me it seems quieter and i cant seem to here my turbo spool lately, doesnt seem right to me

I havent been able to properly check for boost leaks due to weather and not being able to boost the car properly

I tried it like picture 2 and on idle it was fine and the valve sounded normal when revved on the spot, havent tested this way on the road yet though

But iirc the Turbosmart can only be ran 1 way and not reversed

You are right

My new red intercooler hoses should be here tomorrow

Ill fit those and see if anything changes (hoping its just a boost leak)

you got me thinking now,im trying to remember wich is the correct way for this vale,i know there is something about it

think i may be rong about what i said, sorry,i only had it fitted in the tip and the way it had to be was the trumpit looking bit ended up pointing up slightly to the bulk head wich it would catch on the air con pipe

Thats good news then as it is like picture 1 now and i havent driven it like picture 2 so all good cheers for the help

I have cancelled my red intercooler hoses now as i have to wait 6 weeks for them so im going to remake the whole throttle body to intercooler pipe with a silicone t piece on the same as myki did

Im not entirely happy with the position of it and using the metal t piece i dont want to pop any hoses off

you will be ok if the ends of the pipe are flared and you use the best clamps.

a trick with getting good clamps is if you go to an air line company that see milklor clamps (spelling) these are cheaper from there as they are not sold by a motosports place :thumb

Im going to do it the exact same way as you as i want to change the intercooler hoses to red anyway (for obvious reasons lol)

Does the part you made fit straight from throttle body to the OEM plastic intercooler pipe down the bottom?

I already have alloy pipe left and have bought a silicone T-piece so all i need is the 2 90 bends

Yeh the first set up i made fit directly onto the standard plastic pipe with the map sensor in. Then i went to forge an had them make me up an alloy pipe to house the map sensor so i could do away with the plastic pipe as its very resrictive.

Have a look through my old threads an you'l see a shed load of pics and info on it all
