TVS engineering

Hi
Does anyone have experience with TVS engine remaps? I have a 2.0 190 and notice their claimed gains are higher than the average tuner. On stock hardware they are quoting 280bhp but at the same time they do seem to have a huge amount of experience tuning VAG cars and the DKZA engine so are they just more confident in pushing the stock hardware or are they overestimating their figures?
Thanks

Or they giving out pub talk figures.

Stage 1 remap will not differ much bhp wise between tunes.

stock turbo can only push out so much air

This is the question, is it overestimating or are they pushing the limits further than other tuners? They appear to have a good reputation in Europe especially regarding their DGS department so why would they risk that by putting out inflated figures 🤔
I see Peron have a stage 1 map for the 2.0 polo GTI which shares the same DKZA engine as my Leon and they claim 265bhp which isn’t far from TVS’s figures and I believe Peron are a UK supplier of TVS software.

Who knows

i guess inflated figures sells remaps as most are just looking for headline talk / pub figures.

personally i haven’t heard of TVS before. Must be new to VAG or recently new

They’re a Dutch company, been going since 2005 but I think they’re engine remaps have only recently become available in the UK via Peron. I believe they’re pretty well known for the DSG side of the business.

Turbos suck in air 😉
Then push it out

same thing
So does a fan ;)

Both of you miss the actual purpose of a Turbo, which is to compress air ;) But both of you know that already don't you :p

My advice, don't go after numbers, go after reliability and drivability. Someone may have bragging rights with higher numbers, but their car doesn't go faster than yours when broken :)

So as you've done go off of people's experience of the company and if its a chain/dealer network (like Revo/Racingline) then the garage too that looks after you as well. Its why I chose who I chose.

Neither racingline or Revo have a map available for my engine at this point in time 🙄. CLP automotive via Peron are offering the TVS software and as far as I’m aware they’re both decent enough. I have a friend who tunes Fiesta ST’s who has vouched for the owner of CLP too. How does one gauge drivability and reliability without having your own car mapped?

Wasn’t saying to use Revo/Racingline necessarily, but to go off other people’s experiences. I mentioned Revo/Racingline in reference to dealer networks of other people’s software. Rather than a direct garage like Unicorn.

Other people’s experiences should give you a good idea of reliability. As for drivability, check to see if you can test drive one of their cars. Failing that it comes back to not going for peak numbers, get people’s experiences.

Also look into people who have had problems, how a tuner deals with a problem will also give you a good idea of their reliability as far as follow up is concerned. All timers have problems, it just happens sometimes, but how they handle will give you insight

Also, and probably the most important. If you plan on tuning the car, you have to accept it may break no matter how good the tuner is. Yes car manufacturers give their engines headroom that tuners use, but they do so for a reason. Some tuners will go for peak numbers and less headroom, but even the conservative ones will have failures.

I admit I haven’t checked for other cars, but I’ve looked for my own, 2019 R ST obvs with GPF, and I wouldn’t say TVS are claiming inflated figures for that car.

On the ecu tuning side of things their stage 1 is very conservative at around 350hp and stage 2 around 380-390hp, which I believe is less than others like Revo for example.

Also I believe TVS are custom tunes and not generic, so you’d expect them to give good power.
They have a very good reputation in Europe and indeed make the best DSG software on the market.

One thing to note about TVS is their stages are different to what you’d normally expect. Stage 2 with TVS is in completely stock hardware. Stage 2+ is what we’d traditionally consider to be stage 2 with intake, dp and maybe intercooler

Seems they’re more well known in Europe, I don’t think their ECU maps have been available in the UK for all that long

Well they are internationally renowned for their DSG software, and are well regarded in Europe for ECU tuning also, pretty much like the big independent tuners are in the UK (Unicorn, R-tech etc etc)
However they have just started to offer their custom ECU tuning via certain dealers in the UK also (Peron & CLP iirc)

I don’t care too much for Europe. I voted for Brexit 🤣
