if you change your tweeters, you may as well replace the standard speakers too.

buy a decent set of 6.5" component speakers. and they will come with a seperate tweeter and crossover unit.

i have fitted 1" tweeters in my car, was a bit of a squeeze and did involve some manipulation of metal but i got them to fit nice and snug :D

the best speakers... well thats all depending on the money mate.

if you have the money then:
JL audio
RE audio
Boston Accoustics

if not then go for the best you can afford.

Hi, I my tweeter in the passenger door (Mk1 Leon) is giving trouble - the sound comes and goes so I'd say it's just a matter of connections. Would you know where is the best place to check first? Is do wires come out of the back of the CD player that go to the tweeters? If so it could be simply a bad connection, or would I have to remove car door card and check the connections to the speaker itself which is most likey a soldered connection?

Any help/advise appreciated.

Thanks.
