As for extracting performance from your car i know most folk who like this euro/scene fad know what theyr doing to their car will kill performance but they just dont care, It is a epic fail in that sense but a WIN in another. Just like how i think turning up to the shop in a normal road going car with full buckets, 4-point harnesses and a cage is super gay cause you look like a tool trying to get out all this crap and clamber over a cage trust me iv done it in a full track going EK9 not the best look. BUT i still think its cool for going on track as a track car:D

But at least the EK9 was taken on track and the cage, harnesses etc were used as designed - are the 'scene queens' going to drift their fwd grocery getters? If they have the stance and the stretch needed for that area of motorsport then why not....

They might as well have teeny tiny engines in them too, they have no use for any sort of proper horsepower, just can't deploy it on the roads in the UK.

The only reason people stick stretched tyres on theyr wheels is so they can go lower with wider wheels no real other reason. and so thats its legal as having the tyre tread out of the arch is illegal

The reason drifting was mentioned was for a form of motorsport where stretched tyres are used, i very much dout the vibe going around at dub shows is 'oooh look at the stretch on that MK2 bet it drifts real good' haha

Everything has it's place I guess but for me it's more for 'Show' not 'Go' to be honest.

.

It is a common misconception that drift cars set the rear up to loose grip. The usually use dry soft very gripped tyres, as you need a hell of a lot of grip to stay drifting in the direction you want to. The massive bhp/torque is what makes them loose traction. But who cares, drifting has Ruined the car scene.

Yeah id agree with that, saying that once i get my car back together im gonna have to thrash it on the stretched tyres and see how bad..not so bad the grip is and so on.

Ruined lots of very nice S15s too:ban:

Ruined the AE86 Corolla too. Now the prices have rocketed and you wont find a UK spec car for less than 7k

Oh I know ;) I think I missed the ;) out of my other post. The scene queens would rather be low and slow, hence my comment about only needing teeny tiny engines :D

FAO Tyrer
that leon is on airbag suspension bud, its ride height changes daily. thats the highest ive seen it, normally its slammed to the deck

Hopefully that rule comes in ASAP. Stretch looks :w4nk:

i dont think stretch looks bad if its only a little amount but i think the one in the photo looks overdone

Each to there own and if stretch and stance is done well it looks good. I've been around VAG sites for a while now and the scene is not for me. I'd rather have go than show. Variety is the spice of life.

Most propper 'stanced' cars are running huge power tbh.

Yeah but to what end - assuming you can get it onto the rollers to verify it in the first place, the only place it's of any use is surgically smooth tarmac. Good luck with that in this country.

Can't see the point if you can't apply the power or use the brakes without ripping the sump off on every stone on the road.

Drift racing is more like entertainment than 'motorsport' per se although i'm splitting hairs. If someone was using stretched tyres in F1 then that would give some credibility, that a group of nutters use it whilst going sideways as easily and as frequently as possible lends no credence to their use on a road car as a safety feature.

P.s F1 cars use massive amounts of negative camber. So, you know, stanced to **** cars are practically F1 cars.

Haha oh yes like the classic 'scene' sticker low and slow. TBH i wish i had a small engine in mine for what im doing, should have got a FR+ as most the LCR bits iv taken off anyway:censored: bit of a fail there haha oops.. still stage 2 will be fun..... on a dead straight, level, clear road with no corners:lol:
