Ok, read the tyre review, which may explain why the back end of my car is noisy

So, need to consider somit else, even spending a bit more?

I currently have Bridgestone Potenza RE050 - http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Bridgestone/Potenza-RE050A.htm which are the ones that need replacing

The Falken ZE912 seem a reasonable compromise between grip and cost - http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Falken/ZE912.htm

I run Toyo TR1s on my MX5 but not sure is they are suited as well to the Leon as are another £20.

AS I am not sure if I will keep the car for another 6 months I obviously question my need for better more expensive tyres

Out of interest the one tyre on that review site that does very well is the Uniroyal Rainsport http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Uniroyal/Rainsport-2.htm (not sold at Camskill)

The review for the Rainsport tyre on an Ibiza Cupra TDI is mine. I can't fault the tyre and recommend them to everyone - Not had one person say a bad word about them.

The only problem is that they are like rocking horse poo to find. Some of the mainstream tyre & exhaust places sell them at silly prices. I used to get them from a place in Coventry when I lived there but have since moved to Sheffield and don't know of any Uniroyal dealers here so will have to find an excuse to visit a friend in Coventry when replacement time comes. You won't get them for under £120/pair though

I have just had T1R's put on mine and they are quality. Had them on my old car (Clio 182), and they were brilliant on that, but like you I was worried that they may not suit the Leon....but they do, handling wet and dry much better than the Goodyear F1 GSD3's that were new on the car when I bought it last year, and ride is LOADS better. £190 for two all in.

like the sound of the Uniroyal Rainsport 2 cheepest I can find for 18" is £92.95 + £6.99 P+P, then will have to find some one to fit them so works a lot of money for 4.

What about the Hankook S1, they have come out on top on a recent tyre review

Well surprise,surprise Hankook starts the summer season off in the same fashion has it has been doing for the last 3yrs and wins.
Best overall points in both wet and dry for the S1 evo
2nd = Goodyear Efficientgrip
3rd = Pirelli P7
4th = Dunlop sport maxx TT
5th = Nokian ZG2
6th = Mich Ps3
7th = Uniroyal Rain Sport 2
8th = Vredestein Sessanta
9th = Bridgestone RE050 A

On track the Hankook and conti posted the same times wet and dry
But the Hankook was much better than all the others under braking,5.1 m better than the Mich Ps3 in the wet and 2.6m in the dry.
Some surprising results there,especially for the new Mich Ps3
In the next few weeks there should be a test in Sportauto which will concentrate more on the sportier side of the tyres.

Lol Tyre tests confuse me, some tests say the S1's aren't very good in the wet but in this test it has come out on top.
